The Villagers needed to win across in Cumbria and hope that
relegation rivals Hebburn Reyrolle slipped up in their final fixture – but goals
from Dan Gawith, Peter Ferris and Marc Shiel gave runners-up chasing City their
eight win in a row.
Sam Thompson pulled one back.
Kev Carr hit a hat-trick and Gary Yates netted twice as
Shankhouse beat Rutherford.
Lee Gustard got the other – Will Forsyth getting the
consolation.
Champions
Blyth Town’s
scorers were Ian Lee, Malcolm Morien and David Robinson – with an own goal
completing the total – as they won at Killingworth Station. Dean Nicholson
netted at the other end.
Robbie Frame and Kev Hay both struck twice in Gateshead Redheugh’s
promotion showdown with Newcastle Chemfica in Division One.
Liam Henderson also slammed home with Jay Lomana and Ian
Hutchinson replying for Chemfica, who now trail their hosts by four points with
both having two games to play.
At the bottom of the table, Willington Quay Saints need to
win their final game to get out of the basement after Daniel Ure, Andrew Renton
and Tavis Couling fired home for Bohemians in the first half. Glen Johnson hit
a consolation from the penalty spot late on for the Saints, who are a point
behind Heddon.
David Scott’s double and a Robbie Eastway strike helped ease
Bedlington Terriers Reserves away from the dangerzone against Ponteland United while
Birtley Saint Joseph’s strikers Damien Stevens and Lee Cuthbertson both hit doubles
at Hexham.
Tom North and Patrick McAllindon replied.
Joseph Laver was another that got on the scoresheet twice
for Newcastle Uni at Cullercoats.
Jake Salisbury grabbed the other for the Students with Dean
McCarthy notching for the hosts.
Michael Starkie smashed in a hat-trick as Wallsend Boys Club
kept their promotion hopes alive in Division Two.
Nicky Whitelaw and a Carl Morrison screamer completed the
total against Seaton Burn while Ben Jefferson, Dylan Heneghan (pen), Chris
Thompson and Matty Dawson pulled the trigger for Newcastle Benfield Reserves as
they completed their fixtures with a 4-1 success against Wideopen.
