Northern Alliance Round-Up 23/02/13


Premier Division

Carlisle City turned up the heat at the top of the table as they beat Amble United and moved to within six points of the leaders, with three games in hand.
Tom Lucock fired the Cumbrians ahead from the penalty spot after just two minutes and although Ross Gair levelled for the Seasiders with another penalty 14 minutes later, Stuart Kilgour arrived unmarked to head in the winner at the near post four minutes after the break.
Harraby United’s Jonathon Simpson bagged a brace as they saw off Shankhouse.
Alan Casey and Ryan Errington netted the others with Rees Farndell netting the consolation.

Kicks Leisure George Dobbins League Cup

First half strikes from Justin Millican, Josh Gilmartin and Sam Walton put Wallington into the final as they comfortably saw off fellow First Division side Ponteland United.

Division One

There were own goals at both ends as Newcastle Uni won a seven-goal thriller at Hexham.
In-form Students striker Tom Stapleton struck twice and Jake Salisbury got the other with Scott Coates and Jamie Peel the Tynedale scorers in a game that they were always chasing.

Division Two

Wooler’s Mark Forrest was on target as they were held by fourth-placed Wideopen.
Lee Shickle netted for the visitors with both sides probably happy to settle for a point while Alnwick Town Reserves hit-man Steven Hutchins fired a brace as they beat Seaton Burn.
Ross Straughan got the other and the visitors had Reece Noble and Nicky Hara on the scoresheet.

Northern Alliance Round-Up 16/02/13


Premier Division

Darren Riddell’s late winner secured Amble United the win at Percy Main which moved the Seasiders nine points clear at the top.
Goals from Andy Robertson (2), Lewis Burns (2), Josh Day and Sean Jobson put Whitley Bay A out of sight at Rutherford, who replied through Shaun Todhunter, and into second as Heaton Stannington slipped up against Blyth Town.
Patrick Allen’s cross-shot proved decisive with the reigning Champions missing a second half spot-kick.
Wallend Town had Craig Burke (2), Paul McHutcheon (2) and Jordan Jones on target against Hebburn Reyrolle, whose consolation came from Christian Wilkinson.
Goals from Stocksfield’s Declan Stokie and Chris Hall were cancelled out by Killingworth Sporting’s Nathan Castle and Connall Reed (pen) and it also ended all-square at Ashington Colliers, who led through David Brown’s 45th minute strike, only to be pegged back four minutes from the end when Walker Central’s Anthony Studholme levelled.
Cameron Patrick’s low shot squeezed home to give Seaton Delaval the lead against Harraby and Michael Fenwick volleyed in number two. The Cumbrians improved after the break and although Nathan Fisher scored and they struck the woodwork on three occasions, the young Delaval side held on to stop the rot after three straight defeats.

Kicks Leisure Challenge Cup

Carlisle City cruised into the Kicks Leisure Challenge Cup Final as Tom Lucock (2), Stuart Kilgour, Sean Bannon and Ian Cumersky tucked away without reply at Shankhouse. The Sky Blues will face Amble United for a shot at the silverware.

Division One

Wallington maintained pole position as Jordan Nellis (2) and Josh Gilmartin crashed in against promotion rivals Bedlington Terriers Reserves, whose scorer was Robbie Eastway.
Cramlington Town’s win at Ponteland United came courtesy of goals in each half from Andy Carr and Gary McRoberts at Ponteland United while Northbank and Red House Farm shared the spoils. Mark Worral and Cameron Wilson struck for the Cumbrians with goals from Paul Newton-Eddy and Martin Soulsby replying.
Heddon kept in contention with Scot Johnson and Max Turner netting at Newcastle Chemfica, who netted through Liam Naulls, while Kev Hay hit a double for Gateshead Redheugh as they saw off Cullercoats.
John Dewhirst and David Clasper also fired in with Daniel Sneap the Cullercoats hit-man and Forest Hall’s Michael Reay also bagged a brace in their victory against Willington Quay Saints.
Dan Sherliker was also among the goals with Kane Chirnside and Mark Henderson notching for Saints.
Goals from Patrick O’Donoghue and Andy Renton for Bohs were cancelled out by Hexham’s Gavin Cox and Paul McLean while a Tom Stapleton brace gave Newcastle Uni three precious points against Morpeth Town A.

Division Two

Anthony Smith’s penalty gave Birtley Saint Joseph’s a hard-fought win against battling Alnwick Town reserves, who led twice through Dale Kennedy and Stephen Hutchins. Jack Pearson and Martin Guy, who curled one in direct from a corner, got the others for the leaders.
North Shields Athletic kept up the pressure at the top as Scott Jasper (2), Craig Boyle, Adam Pollock and Matty Donkin netted against Longbenton, whose solitary reply came from Carl Clarke, and Wooler are also breathing down their necks after Mark Forrest, Tom Martin and James Scott were on the scoresheet at High Howdon, who hit back through Scott Dodds and Graeme Findlay.
Paul Hook, Kris Allington and Scott Evans all hit braces for Blyth Isabella as they re-found their shooting boots against Wallsend Boys Club. Matthew Lavender got the other and Michael Starkie replied.
Wideopen’s great season continued as first half efforts from Leigh Shickle and David Gabbitus gave them the points against Cramlington United.
Jack Greenwell and Lee Howey were Seaton Burn’s targetmen against Alston, but the visitors made the long journey home happy with a point as Mark Wright and Jason Williams netted.
Goals from Chris Thompson and Steven Thompson gave Newcastle Benfield Reserves a success at Grainger Park, who had Robert Jefferson crash in.

Northern Alliance Round Up 9/2/13


Premier Division

Heaton Stannington’s Lee Johnson cancelled out Sean Bannon’s opener for Carlisle City as the top of the table clash ended all square.
Bannon headed home an Ian Cumersky centre in the first half but Johnson fired a shot over the keeper in the 70th minute. City were reduced to nine men as tensions boiled over in injury time.
Andy Robertson grabbed a hat-trick with Whitley Bay A team-mates Kyle Downey and Lewis Burns netted two apiece as they proved too strong for Hebburn Reyrolle while Rutherford went down to goals from Chris Garwood, Paul McHutcheon and Craig Burke at Wallsend Town.
Walker Central’s Andrew Beadling slotted a last minute winner as they came from behind to take the points at Harraby United.
Stuart Bell’s penalty had put the Cumbrians in charge but James Walker equalised in the 82nd minute.
Scott Pocklington, Mark Richardson and Chris Bell scored as Percy Main leapfrogged Ashington Colliers while a Chris Rue double and Connor Andrews goal gave Shankhouse a great win over Seaton Delaval, whose lone reply was a late own goal.

Kicks Leisure Challenge Cup

Amble United went into the final of the Kicks Leisure Challenge Cup on penalties.
Goals from Liam Callaghan and Darren Walsh had put Killingworth Sporting on top but Brent Aisbitt pulled one back and Rikki Hume equalised deep into stoppage time.

Division One

John Paxton struck twice and Sam Walton got the winner as Wallington went top of the table with a win at Ponteland United.
Billy Holden and Peter Scott were on the scoresheet for the hosts while Morpeth Town A celebrated their first win of the season.
Darren Percy’s shot and a Martin Robinson penalty put them on top and they had to endure a nervous finish after John Dewhurst pulled one back late on for Gateshead Redheugh.
Jamie Hope, Ollie Driver and Cameron Wilson crashed in as Northbank beat Cramlington Town, who had Keith Woodrow on target and a late Ben Wheeler strike for Newcastle Uni left hosts Heddon gutted.
Robbie Black’s goal for Bedlington Terriers Reserves was cancelled out by Johnny Hewitt for Bohemians.

Division Two

North Shields Athletic moved into second spot with a win at Alnwick Town reserves. A Scott double and Johnny Wyres strike gave them the points with Ross Straughan netting for Alnwick and David Gabitus was the Wideopen hero with a hat-trick at Blyth Isabella.
Despite being reduced to ten men, Chris Sword and Ross Dickinson were also on the scoresheet with Kris Allington, Andrew Haigh and Curtis Miller scoring for the home side.
It was a day to forget for basement side Swalwell as they had four dismissed and conceded seven at Seaton Burn. Jack Greenwell hit three, Andrew Bennett two and Lee Howey and David Hewitt jnr completed the rout.

NFA Minor Cup

The Minor Cup semi finals are an all-Alliance affair after goals from Michael Steinmetz, Zak Bridgend and Marty Soulsby saw Red House Farm see off North Northumberland League North Sunderland.
Hexham’s Liam Heenan and Matty Blackith both struck twice and Scott Robson got the other in their win over Grainger Park, with both sides missing penalties and New Fordley stormed back from two down at Tyneside Amateur League North Shields Athletic reserves to go through. Lee Waugh (2), Louis Boddy, Joe Besford and Scott Bamborough scored while Cullercoats went through at the expense of Forest Hall.

NFA Senior Benevolent Bowl

Chris Hall’s second half double put Stocksfield into the semi-final as they turned around a first half deficit inflicted by Blyth Town’s Carl Hetherington.

Northern Alliance Round-Up 2/2/13


Premier Division

It ended all square in the only Premier Division game to beat the weather.
Killingworth Sporting’s Connal Reed and Nathan Castle fired home but goals from Hebburn Reyrolle’s Oliver Bone and Robert Allen ensured both sides took a precious point.

Division One

Newcastle Uni’s Alex Ames crashed in at Newcastle Chemfica in another game that ended in stalemate as Gaz Davies struck at the other end. The point puts the Students back into the black after losing eight in deductions.

Division Two

Tony Smith slammed in a hat-trick for leaders Birtley Saint Josephs as the went six points clear of title rivals Wooler in a cracking match.
Smith hit the opener after just 60 seconds and added number two with a smart turn and finish.
Wooler pulled one back through Luke Strangeways just after the break, but St Joes restored their two goal advantage when Damien Stevens volleyed in.
Andy Thompson capitalised on a defensive mix-up to prod Wooler right back in it, but Smith dispatched a hotly-disputed penalty to round things off.
Cramlington United’s Michael Jordan and Thomas Close were the heroes as they won for only the second time this season and got themselves off the bottom rung.
Scott Dodds netted for hosts High Howdon, but it wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits in the visitors dressing room.
Kris Allington also grabbed a hat-trick as Blyth Isabella thumped Newcastle Benfield Reserves.
Matt Lavender and Curtis Miller got the others while Chris Thompson grabbed a consolation.

NFA Minor Cup
Dieu Llomana’s hat-trick helped Forest Hall into the fifth round as they hit seven against Wideopen.
Dan Sherliker, Steven Maughan, Thomas Jones and Anthony Grahamslaw got the others in the rout, with Nathan Rogerson chalking up the lone reply.

NFA Senior Benevolent Bowl
Late strikes from Liam Anderson and Craig Cook took Ponteland United into the semi-finals as they came from behind to surprise Wallsend Town.
Ian Graham had put the hosts ahead but United netted twice in the final ten minutes to win it.
Heaton Stannington also came from behind as they saw off Whitley Bay A, who went ahead through Simon Brown.
He was unlucky to then deflect the leveller into his own net and Lee Johnson headed the winner.
Second half strikes from Chris Bell (2) and Chris Glass booked Percy Main a spot in the last four as they beat Seaton Delaval.
