Johnson gave Blyth Town a cracking win at Amble United, whose lead at
the top is now down to three points as Carlisle City
came from behind to beat Stocksfield.
Chris Hall slammed in a penalty for the Griffins but Robbie
Mather, sub Sean Bannon and Tom Lucock, also from the spot, turned things
around for the Cumbrians.
Dan Quine struck twice for Walker Central as they beat Wallsend Town
in the East End derby with Craig Burke
replying. It also ended 2-1 to the visitors at Harraby as Chris Bell grabbed a double
for Percy Main and Darren Addison struck a penalty at the other end.
Ashington Colliers had Dave Brown and Joe Moscrop hit the
net as they beat Rutherford, with Graeme
Troughton scoring in reply while goals from Michael Fenwick and Jamie Dunn gave
Seaton Delaval three points against Killingworth Sporting. Connal Reed was
spot-on for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough.
Hebburn Reyrolle struck three times on the road through Josh
McHugh (2) and Dean Stewart bit it wasn’t enough as hosts Shankhouse had Mark
Brittain (2), Chris Rue and Paul Dunn all on target to win it.
Division One
Goals from Kev Long, Jordan Watson and Andrew Carr eased Cramlington Town
to victory over Bedlington Terriers Reserves while leaders Wallington were
given a mighty scare by Newcastle
University.
The Students stormed into a 3-0 lead in 17 minutes as Robbie
Goodyear, Tom Stapleton and Johnny Sexton (pen) all found the net. Jordan
Nellis’s hat-trick spared the Greens blushes and saved a point.
Stev McLaughlin led the way for Chemfica with four against a
shell-shocked Morpeth Town A. Richard Bissessur, Tito Davison (2), Dean Catlow
and Kyle Burnie got the others in a romp with Gavin Agnew’s goal scant
consolation.
Robert Frame and Michael Pooley both hit doubles as Heddon
beat Bohs and Liam Anderson also struck twice for Ponteland United at
Northbank.
Jack L’Argent and Andrew Davidson got the others with Mark
Worrall replying while strikes from Joe Bell, Ryan Davenport, Kev Hay and John
Dewhirst gave Redheugh three points at Willington Quays Saints. Kane Chirnside
netted twice in reply.
Division Two
Scott Jasper and Ben Pollock crashed in for North Shields
Athletic at Wallsend
Town as they cut Birtley
Saint Joseph’s lead at the top to one point.
Saint Joes’ striker Damien Stevens netted a brace as they
were held at Wideopen, who had Michael Strachan and Kevin Ord hit the net as
they led twice.
Wooler’s James Scott (2) and Mark Forrest celebrated as they
saw off Blyth Isabella, who had Che Aisbitt notch, while goals from Andrew
Bennett and a late Stephen Baker strike gave Seaton Burn the spoils at
Longbenton.
John Wright (2) and Andy hall did the damage for Alston
against Grainger Park and High Howdon just had enough to
see off a spirited challenge from Swalwell.
The breathed a sigh of relief as goals from Nicky Whitelaw
(2), Craig Black and Jason Walsh edged out the visitors in a seven-goal
thriller. Craig Watson, Jack Gibson and Shaun Stonehouse banged home for
Swalwell in an end-to-end encounter.
Stephen Hogg struck for Alnwick Town Reserves in their draw
with Newcastle Benfield Reserves, who had Chris Thompson on target.
NFA Minor Cup
Hexham’s Marc Nixon netted the only goal in extra time as
they beat spirited New Fordley to book a spot in the Minor Cup final.
They will face Red House Farm, whose scorers were Martin
Soulsby (pen) and Mark Sheeran in a 2-1 win at Cullercoats.
NFA Senior Benevolent Bowl
Heaton Stannington went into the last four with goals from
Kevin Carr and William James’ extra time winner giving them a 2-1 success at
Whitley Bay A, whose target-man was Gav Hattrick.
