Archers of Blyth George Dobbins League Cup Final

Shankhouse brough the curtain down on the Northern Alliance season by lifting the showpiece Archers of Blyth George Dobbins League Cup.
The 'Hoose got off to a flying start as Peter Snowdon fired the Premier Division side in front after just seven minutes.
But First Division Chemfica, who won the Bluefin Group Combination Cup and also made it to the semi-finals of the Northumberland FA Minor Cup, levelled within four minutes as Garrick Murphy-Collins let fly with a cracking long range drive.
Both clubs had endured a hectic run-in to the season's finale with a glut of mid-week games to contend with, but there was little sign of leg weariness as Shankhouse regained the advantage in the 15th minute when Lee Gustard applied the decisive touch, tucking away into the corner of the net to complete a good move.
With the low summer sun casting long shadows over both Wheatridge Park and the 2013/14 season, the silverware was sealed in the 62nd minute when Joel Arnold rose to head home from a corner.
The 'Hoose had tasted defeat as beaten finalists in the Northumberland FA Les Todd Senior Benevolent Bowl this season but were celebrating at the final whistle while Chemfica's players could walk from the pitch with their heads held high after their Cup exploits ths term.

Northern Alliance round up 10/05/14



Marc Shiel hit a devastating 14-minute second half hat-trick as Carlisle City took their winning run to nine games and gave them the runners-up spot in the Premier Division.
Dan Gawith’s opener for the Sky Blues was cancelled out by Dan Thompson but City went nap after that with Shiel claiming his treble, including one from the penalty spot, and Martin Shepherd completing the scoring late on.
Shankhouse led twice at Red House Farm but had to settle for a point as Michael Steinmetz hit a last-gasp leveller.
Noel Hanlon, Chris Rue and Adam Bamborough were on target for ‘Hoose with Marty Soulsby and Michael Strachan netting the other Red House goals.
Division One Champions North Shields Athletic got in party mood with goals from Scott Jasper, Sean Millington, Lee Crammond and John Wyres against Birtley saint Josephs, who replied twice through James Bowman, but the promotion celebrations at Gateshead Redheugh went a bit flat as they went down 4-1 at Cullercoats, whose scorers were Hylton Hub (2), Dean Clay and an own goal. Robbie Frame pulled one back.
And their was heartache for Newcastle Chemfica who finished fourth as goals from Jay Lomana and Steve McLaughlin were cancelled out by Ponteland United’s Paul Jones and Liam Anderson.
Blyth Isabella snatched the Second Division title from AFC Newbiggin on a dramatic final day.
The Seasiders needed a win against Wallsend Boys Club to add the League silverware to the Northumberland FA Minor Cup – but Nicky Whitelaw broke their hearts with a first half double.
Michael Meins bagged a brace, including a penalty, and Dan Carr got the other as Isabella beat Seaton Burn to spark the celebrations. Matthew Middleton pulled one back.
Gateshead Leam Rangers were beating Grainger Park 5-1 but west End striker Liam Anderson scored four times with Dwayne Murray and Tony Spearman getting the other in an amzing turnaround.
Grant Pressling and Liam Roberts put Whitburn Athletic in charge at Wideopen and although Dan Cartwright pulled one back late on, an own goal completed the scoring for the visitors.
Alnwick Town Reserves will try and play West Allotment Celtic A again on Monday night as their game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Bluefin Group Bill Gardner Memorial Trophy Final at Purvis Park, Percy Main

Alnwick Town Reserves 0 Seaton Delaval Amateurs 2

Seaton Delaval withstood a late barrage from Alnwick Town Reserves to lift the Bluefin Group Bill Gardner Memorial Trophy.
The Red Devils went ahead in the 9th minute. The Premier Division side must have thought the chance was gone when the Town keeper pulled off a great penalty save but from the resultant corner, Anthony Woodhouse headed in.
Delaval made it two just after the interval when Michael Fenwick tucked in a right wing cross as Town were hit on the break.
The Second Division Black and Whites continued to create chances but were left frustrated as they couldn't hit the back of the net despite all their pressure.

Northern Alliance Round Up 03/05/14

The Villagers needed to win across in Cumbria and hope that relegation rivals Hebburn Reyrolle slipped up in their final fixture – but goals from Dan Gawith, Peter Ferris and Marc Shiel gave runners-up chasing City their eight win in a row.
Sam Thompson pulled one back.
Kev Carr hit a hat-trick and Gary Yates netted twice as Shankhouse beat Rutherford.
Lee Gustard got the other – Will Forsyth getting the consolation.
Champions Blyth Town’s scorers were Ian Lee, Malcolm Morien and David Robinson – with an own goal completing the total – as they won at Killingworth Station. Dean Nicholson netted at the other end.
Robbie Frame and Kev Hay both struck twice in Gateshead Redheugh’s promotion showdown with Newcastle Chemfica in Division One.
Liam Henderson also slammed home with Jay Lomana and Ian Hutchinson replying for Chemfica, who now trail their hosts by four points with both having two games to play.
At the bottom of the table, Willington Quay Saints need to win their final game to get out of the basement after Daniel Ure, Andrew Renton and Tavis Couling fired home for Bohemians in the first half. Glen Johnson hit a consolation from the penalty spot late on for the Saints, who are a point behind Heddon.
David Scott’s double and a Robbie Eastway strike helped ease Bedlington Terriers Reserves away from the dangerzone against Ponteland United while Birtley Saint Joseph’s strikers Damien Stevens and Lee Cuthbertson both hit doubles at Hexham.
Tom North and Patrick McAllindon replied.
Joseph Laver was another that got on the scoresheet twice for Newcastle Uni at Cullercoats.
Jake Salisbury grabbed the other for the Students with Dean McCarthy notching for the hosts.
Michael Starkie smashed in a hat-trick as Wallsend Boys Club kept their promotion hopes alive in Division Two.
Nicky Whitelaw and a Carl Morrison screamer completed the total against Seaton Burn while Ben Jefferson, Dylan Heneghan (pen), Chris Thompson and Matty Dawson pulled the trigger for Newcastle Benfield Reserves as they completed their fixtures with a 4-1 success against Wideopen.

Northern Alliance Round Up 26/04/14



Blyth Town took the Premier Division title thanks to sub Ian Lee’s late winner at Walker Central.
Lee arrived to crash a volley into the back of the net in the 89th minute of an evenly-contested match to give the South Newsham side the silverware.
Killingworth Station had Chris Tate and Martin Roper on target before hosts Red House Farm drew level thanks to goals from Steven Brown (pen) and Paul Newton-Eddy.
Dean Nicholson crashed in Station’s winner from the penalty spot, but the damage had been done by an unexpected mid-week defeat by Hebburn Reyrolle which leaves the Station trailing by eight points with two games to play.
Shankhouse hit five at Ashington Colliers. Russell Ward, Lee Gustard, Anth Watson (own goal), Paul Dunn and Adam Bamborough all crashed in, with Lee Scott replying while Stocksfield hit back after Wallington’s Alex Slack had shot them ahead to win with goals from Andy Hall, Ben Murdoch, Darren Graham and a Glen Caygill penalty.
Peter Ferris and Marc Shiel fired in for Carlisle City in their victory at Whitley Bay A, who struck courtesy of Chris Bell.
The Division One title race is heating up and North Shields Athletic went top after hitting twelve against Wooler.
John Wyres (3), Dan Capewell (2), Sean Milligan (2), Anthony Keith, Anthony Errington, Maksims Zabrovs, Lee Crammond and Ryan Bailey all got in on the act as Athletic hit top gear.
Their rivals slipped up with Cramlington Town taking the lead through Wynn Fremlin but going down as Ponteland United hit back with goals from Dunn and Clark while Jay Lomano netted for Chemfica but visitors Newcastle Uni had Joe Watson and Jake Salisbury on target.
Alan Pegram, Liam Henderson, Kevin Hay and Blair Johnson scored for Gateshead Redheugh as they won at Willington Quay Saints and although Marcus Burn shot Bohemians ahead at Hexham, second half strikes from Aiden Armstrong and Gav Cox sealed victory for the Tynedalers.
Lee Cuthbertson, Tony Smith and Paul Beat were on the scoresheet for Birtley St. Josephs in their win against Bedlington Terriers Reserves, whose scorer was Mark Race and New Fordley hit seven in an eleven-goal thriller with Heddon.
Louis Boddy, James Dubois and Zak Tully all bagged braces with Ben Davison getting the other while Francis Storey and Andy Hall both hit doubles in reply.
AFC Newbiggin got back on track with an important win over Newcastle Benfield Reserves. Col McLelland headed the Seasiders in front but Chris Thompson levelled.
Jonathon McEnaney struck twice after the break to put Newbiggin in control and Kris Allington rounded the scoring off with a late fourth that puts them top of the table.
West Allotment Celtic A’s Sean Allen and Dan Surley put them two-up against Blyth Isabella, who hit back to claim a point with goals from Dean Fitch and Michael Meins.
Nicky Whitelaw struck a double in Wallsend Boys Club’s victory at Swalwell. Michael Starkie got the other and Steven Tumelty netted for the hosts.
Dave Hewitt’s opener for Seaton Burn was cancelled out by Alnwick Town Reserves’ Neil McFall after the break.

Bluefin Group Amateur Cup Final

Gateshead Leam Rangers 2 Newcastle Benfield Reserves 4

A first half blitz from Newcastle Benfield Reserves saw them lift the Bluefin Group Amateur Cup.
Stephen Thompson shot the young Benfield side ahead after just seven minutes with Andy McBride hitting number two in the 26th minute.
The day got worse for Leam Rangers when they conceded an unfortunate own goal in the 35th minute.
Rangers battled back into the game when Lewis Meach pulled one back in the 61st minute but the Cup was heading to Benfield when Ben Jefferson netted a fourth at the other end with five minutes to go.
Meach grabbed a second consolation three minutes later.

Northern Alliance Round Up 19/04/14



Malcolm Morien and David Atkinson both bagged braces in Blyth Town’s win at Rutherford.
Dan Beresford added the other for the leaders with Eddie Keenan pulling one back for the hosts – who also pounded the woodwork three times.
Goals from Adam Smith and Dan Murray in the last five minutes gave Hebburn Reyrolle a lifeline as they beat Percy Main.
Aiden McCafferty had grabbed an early opener that was cancelled out by Sam Thompson.
Richie Latimer shot Killingworth Station ahead at Carlisle City but the Cumbrians hit back with goals from Dave Fisher (2) and Peter Ferris while Karl Campbell and Kane White netted for Stocksfield at Shankhouse, who pulled one back through Joel Arnold.
Justin Millican’s opener for Wallington was cancelled out by Ashington Colliers Darren Riddell and Kevin Westphal hit the only goal for a youthful Seaton Delaval side as they took the three points at Whitley Bay A.
Kane Chirnside, Andrew Breheny and Glen Johnson struck for Willington Quay Saints as the basement side pulled off a crucial win at Newcastle Uni. Chris Vant replied for the Students.
Goals from Shaun Cowel and Reece Farrel earned Bedlington Terriers Reserves victory over Cullercoats, with James Carr replying and Newcastle Chemfica’s title hopes took a dent at in-form Bohemians, who had Daniel Ure and Louis O’Donohue on the scoresheet.
North Shields Athletic’s scorers were John Wyres, Scott Jasper and Anthony Keith in a narrow win over Gateshead Redheugh, who had Liam Henderson and Alan Pegram on target.
New Fordley’s Dean Lees fired in against Birtley Saint Josephs with Dan Irving striking for the visitors and Patrick MacLindon bagged a brace in Hexham’s win over Ponteland United with Tom Hacken getting the other.
David Short struck twice in Longbenton’s victory at West Allotment Celtic A that put them back on top of Division Two with Michael Meins (2) and Che Aisbitt crashing in for Blyth Isabella as they beat AFC Newbiggin to keep up the pressure.
Nicky Whitelaw and Jordan Robertson fired in for Wallsend Boys Club in their win over Alnwick Town Reserves, who netted through Andrew Kiddell.
Nick Little’s unlucky own goal gave Seaton Burn a victory at Whitburn Athletic and the points were shared in the basement battle between Swalwell and Cramlington United.
Dan Igo struck twice from the penalty spot for Swalwell and David Jeffers got the other as they came from behind three times – Dan Gray, Martin Kelly and Mark Nicholson all scored in the first half for United.

Northern Alliance Round Up 12/04/14



When the Ashington Colliers keeper pulled off a stunning point blank save to deny Blyth Town in a frantic final five minutes, they knew it wasn’t going to be their day.
The game was fairly even throughout but Town piled on the pressure towards the end as they looked for the three points that would have put them top.
Killingworth Station’s title hopes were kept alive with a win at Northbank courtesy of strikes by Martin Roper, Michael Bowman, Scott Bowman and Daniel Young but red House Farm’s dreams of silverware were all but dashed in a bad-tempered defeat at Whitley Bay A that saw both sides reduced to ten men.
David Fairgrieve and Lewis Burns hit the goals.
Peter Williams and Mark McMeekin netted for Rutherford as they came from behind to beat Seaton Delaval, who had Michael Fenwick on target, while Carlisle City’s Marc Shiel and Jamie Hope were on the scoresheet as they beat Shankhouse, who replied through Paul Dunn.
Stewart Wright’s double gave Percy Main the advantage against Stocksfield, who missed a penalty, but the Griffins drew level with goals from Ben Dibb-Fuller and Keiron Day.
John Paxton, Jordan Nellis and an own goal put Wallington in charge against Hebburn Reyrolle with Bede Finnegan and Derek Graham hitting consolations for the ten-man visitors.
A Paul Joisce goal right on half time gave Division One leaders Cramlington Town the points against Newcastle Uni while title chasers North Shields Athletic and Newcastle Chemfica both slipped up.
Francis Storey shot lowly Heddon ahead against Athletic, who replied thanks to Ryan bailey and although Kyle Burnip was on target for Chemfica, they were held by Hexham who netted courtesy of Matthew Blackith.
Scott Bamborough and Craig Dunn scored in New Fordley’s win over Bedlington Terriers Reserves and Andy Renton, Chris Dougthwaite and Tavis Couling (pen) were Gosforth Bohemians’ hit-men at Ponteland United. Daniel Wright pulled one back.
Ryan Davenport bagged a brace in Redheugh’s win over Wooler with Andy May and Alan Pegram getting the others. Luke Strangeways and Michael Saunders hit the target for the visitors.
Lee Cuthbertson was another two-goal hero for Birtley Saint Josephs in their win over Cullercoats. Mark Hammond and Anthony Smith added others and Elliott Mitchell pulled one back.
Red-hot Ross Muter slammed in FIVE as AFC Newbiggin hit West Allotment Celtic A for six – and went top of Division Two. Kris Allington also beat the keeper.
Blyth Isabella went one better as Dan Carr cracked in a hat-trick at Swalwell.
Che Aisbett, Daniel Hislop and Jake Miller (2-1 pen) added to the total at Swalwell who netted a consolation through Colin Meadows.
Stu Taylor’s last minute shot was fumbled over the line by the Wideopen keeper to give Seaton Burn the win and Michael Starkie struck twice in Wallsend Boys Club’s win at Cramlington United. Steve McCabe and David Pounder completed the total.
Kenny Collins, Ross Straughan, Steve Hogg, Ryan Taylor and Neil McFall all crashed in for Alnwick Town Reserves against High Howdon, who pulled tow back from Daniel Cotton and Paul Patton.

Bay Plastics Challenge Cup Final

John Paxton bagged a brace as Wallington lifted the Bay Plastics Challenge Cup.
The Greens raced into an early lead when Sam Walton fired in from the penalty spot in the 8th minute and they doubled their advantage just five minutes later when Paxton latched onto a poor back pass and tucked away into the net.
Walker were left with a mountain to climb when Paxton added his second in the 69th minute.
They did have a great chance to get back in it when they were awarded a penalty but could only groan as it was missed.
Central sub Christopher Hamilton did hit a consolation in the 85th minute but it couldn’t dampen the celebrations for Wallington boss Stephen Cowan, who was delighted to lift some silverware before his retirement at the end of the season.

Northern Alliance round up 05/04/14



Leaders Walker Central were held at Seaton Delaval.
The Red Devils took an early lead through Michael Fenwick but Central turned things around with goals from Jack Nicholson and John Robson (pen). Kevin Westphal headed the leveller.
Red House Farm piled on the pressure but couldn’t find a leveller as they went down at Ashington Colliers, who lead with goals from Brett Robertson and Joe Moscrop (pen). Zak Brogden pulled one back but Farm lost ground in the title race.
Blyth Town’s Malcolm Morien hit a hat-trick in their 7-1 victory over Northbank. David Robinson, David Atkinson, Jason Ritchie and Connor Andrews got the others – Andy Griffiths hit the consolation.
Andy Robertson struck five times – including two penalties – in Whitley Bay A’s big win at Wallington. Liam Harris and Chris Bell added the others with Jake Walton and Dan Thompson the Green’s scorers.
Marc Shiel hit the only goal for Carlisle City at Hebburn Reyrolle and Percy Main led at Killingworth Station with strikes from Ryan McKee and Sam Thompson.
Mark Dixon got Station back in it with a 45-yard lob and Michael Bowman made it all-square from the penalty spot. Dixon headed in the winner at the back post.
Phil Murray (2) and Derek Waters scored for Stocksfield in their draw with Shankhouse, who replied through an own goal, Lee Gustard and a Chris Rue penalty. The Griffins almost won it but hit the post late on.
Division One leaders Cramlington Town left it late as they came from behind to beat Bohemians. Andrew Renton shot the visitors ahead early on but Jordan Miller levelled in the 76th minute and Kev Long won it five minutes later.
North Shields Athletic had Scott Jasper, Ryan Bailey, Anthony Keith, Scott Evans and Anthony Skipsey on target in their convincing win at Ponteland United and Michael Hutchinson and Scott Robson were Redheugh’s scorers in their win over Newcastle Uni, who netted courtesy of Joe Watson.
Chris Connor hit Cullercoat’s winner against New Fordley and Luke Strangeways struck twice in Wooler’s success against Hexham. Jamie Punton and veteran player manager Barry Guthrie – who’s been hitting the net for over three decades, chipped in with the other – at the grand age of 48! Stuart Brown, Thomas North and Gavin Cox were the Tyendaler’s scorers.
Darren Walker’s hat-trick put Blyth Isabella in contention for the Division Two title as they beat Grainger Park.
Che Aisbitt and Andrew Haigh got the others, with Chrissy Robinson notching a reply.
John Bone, Kris Allington, Mason Armstrong and Darren Burn fired in for AFC Newbiggin at High Howdon, who pulled one back though Daniel Cotton, while Jordan Bolton, Dean Mulholland, Ryan Gibson and Thomas Williams struck for Gateshead Leam Rangers in a good victory over Wallsend Boys Club.
Mark Anderson, Andy McBride, Keiran Ranson, Stephen Thompson, Ben Jefferson and Lewis Walker chalked up for Benfield Reserves as they hit Cramlington United for six and Chris Grant shot Swalwell ahead against Seaton Burn, with Ryan Spragg grabbing the equalier.
Andy Smith struck twice in Whitburn Athletic’s success against Alnwick Town Reserves. Levi Collins added the other with Neil McFall pulling one back.

Northern Football Alliance Bay Plastics Combination Cup Final

Birtley Saint Josephs 0 Newcastle Chemfica (Independent) 1

Steve McLaughlin netted the winner just before the break as Newcastle Chemfica lifted the Bay Plastics Combination Cup.
The match was mainly contested in midfield in front of a good crowd at Grounsel Park and although Birtley created a couple of chances, Chemfica almost added to their tally  towards the end as the game opened up.

Northern Alliance Round Up 29/03/14



It’s all to play for at both ends of the Premier Division table as the Northern Football Alliance gears up for an exciting run-in.
Leaders Walker Central were trailing to a Lee Hamilton drive at Killingworth Station but claimed a point as John Robson grabbed a late leveller.
That gave Red House Farm the opportunity to cut the gap at the top to two points with a game in hand as Michael Armstrong, Roi Ticknell and Shane Brooks scored at Rutherford. Mark McMeekin netted for the Gateshead side.
Stuart Bell scored for Northbank with Michael Fenwick replying for Seaton Delaval who could have won it but for a great penalty save by Gunners keeper Jack Twentyman.
Goals from David Brown and Joe Moscrop moved Ashington Colliers away from the dangerzone as they pulled off a good win at Whitley Bay A. Michael Clement hit the consolation.
Relegation-threatened Hebburn Reyrolle put up a battling display at Carlisle City with Dean Finnegan (2) and Steven Ives scoring for the bottom side, but the Cumbrians replied through Marc Shiel, Dan Greenslade, Alan Casey, Ian Cumersky and Martin Shepherd.
Lee Gustard’s 88th minute header booked Shankhouse at spot in the Archers of Blyth George Dobbins League Cup Final as they defended superbly to beat Blyth Town.
Anthony Errington, Scott Jasper and Sean Millington left the Cramlington Town keeper on the deck as the NFA Minor Cup Finalists beat the Division One leaders.
Jordan Miller hit the consolation.
Dave Owen, Chris Homans, Steve McLaughlin and Dan Sherliker netted for Newcastle Chemfica at Heddon, with Francis Storey and Andrew Davidson replying, while Wooler had Alan McFall, James Jeffries, Scott Hunter, Stu Bertram and Paul Yeadon fire home in their victory over New Fordley. John Waugh notched a consolation.

Division Two leaders Longbenton had Anthony Brown, Chris Sword, David Short and Alex Nesbit on target in their win at Alnwick Town Reserves. Kenny Collins replied.

Steve McCabe and Chris Brennan notched in the first half for Wallsend Boys Club at Newcastle Benfield Reserves, who got one back through Steve Thompson’s top corner drive.
Ridi Muteba crashed in a hat-trick for West Allotment Celtic A in their victory over Swalwell. Jaddai Kambena slotted the other and neither side could find the breakthrough as Whitburn Athletic drew a blank with Gateshead Leam Rangers.

Northern Alliance Round Up 22/03/14



It ended all square in the top of the table clash between Blyth Town and Red House Farm with Josh Miller’s unfortunate own goal for the hosts being cancelled out by David Robinson’s leveller.
That gave leaders Walker Central the chance to go four points clear with a Matty Hayton double and a Dean Imray penalty giving them the points against Hebburn Reyrolle.
An own goal and further strikes from Michael Bowman and Mark Covell put Killingworth Station three up at the break on their visit to Whitley Bay A, who hit back with goals from Michael Clement and Nick Jarvis Smith and also hit the woodwork on a couple of occasions.
First half strikes from Andrew Shepherd and Ricky Lee James gave Northbank the points at Shankhouse and a late Derek Waters strike, following up his saved spot-kick, gave Stocksfield three points against Carlisle City.
Kevin Broynson’s last-gasp winner saw Rutherford leapfrog Ashington Colliers in the relegation battle. Will Forsyth’s opener had been cancelled out by david Brown, but Broynson struck with just sixty seconds to go.
Percy Main also got a bit of breathing space as Sam Thompson lashed in the only goal against Wallington.
David Mason bagged a brace in Division One leaders Cramlington Town’s win over Ponteland United. Stu Kyle, Chris Anderson (pen) and Danny McDonald got the others with Michael Rankin replying from the spot.
Jay Lomana, Garrick Murphey Collins, Gaz Davies and Steve McLaughlin were on target for Newcastle Chemfica as they out-gunned Wooler and Hexham celebrated a last minute winner at New Fordley.

Craig Jackson hit the only goal for Seaton Burn in their victory over West Allotment Celtic A and Andrew Haigh lashed in a hat-trick as Blyth Isabella proved too strong for Wideopen.
Che Aisbitt, Dan Carr, Dan Wardle and Micheal Meins (2) got the others in a whitewash.
James Fenwick and Jordan Bolton were on the scoresheet for Gateshead Leam Rangers in their victory over Newcastle Benfield Reserves, who rattled the bar, and Andrew Kiddell and Neil McFall netted in the first half as Alnwick Town Reserves beat Swalwell, who pulled one back through David Jeffers.
Daniel Cotton hit High Howdon’s winner at Whitburn, who were reduced to ten men for most of the game.
Mason Stephenson struck twice in Seaton Delaval’s BlueFin Group Bill Gardner memorial Trophy semi final win over Cullercoats.
An own goal and a Michael Fenwick strike completed the scoring. The Red Devils will meet Alnwick Town Reserves in the Final.

Northern Alliance round up 15/03/14



Walker Central hit a late winner at Ashington Colliers to maintain top spot.
Dave Brown had shot the Colliers in front but second half strikes from Phil McCoy and a late Anthony Studholme effort kept Central’s noses in front.
Red House Farm kept up the pressure as Michael Armstrong bagged a brace at Killingworth Station. Paul Newton-Eddy netted the other with Martin Roper grabbing the consolation.
Blyth Town hit five without reply at Wallington. Malcolm Morien (2), Conner Andrews, David Atkinson and David Robinson did the damage while Paul Dunn also struck twice for Shankhouse at Percy Main. Peter Snowdon and Gary Yates got the others with Matty Robinson netting twice in reply.
Hebburn Reyrolle’s Martin Urwin, Jamie Lawson (2) and Stephen Cockburn were all smiles as the bottom side beat Northbank convincingly and Stocksfield shared the spoils with Whitley Bay A. Andrew Hall and Declan Stokle were the Griffins’ hit-men with Andy Robertson and Ryan McGorrigan on target for the Seahorses.
It ended goalless between Rutherford and Carlisle City, this mainly being thanks to Rutherford keeper Owen Little who produced a couple of brilliant saves.
A Chris Anderson penalty got Division One leaders Cramlington Town off to a good start against Cullercoats and further goals from David Mason and Kev Long secured the points.
Second-placed Chemfica slipped up at Bedlington Terriers Res who had Mark Race, Reece Farell and Andy Mogwo on target. Chris Homans replied.
Louis O’Donahue’s double gave Bohemians the points at Redheugh, who netted through Scott Robson and a late winner from Francis Storey gave Heddon victory at Hexham.
Luke Strangeways and Michael Saunders shot home for Wooler in their draw with North Shields Athletic, who had Daniel Capewell and Scott Jasper on the scoresheet while Dan Wright’s first half goal gave Ponteland United a win over Willington Quay Saints.
Joe Watson, Jesse Walkin and Joseph Laver struck for Newcastle Uni but Lee Cuthbertson (2) and Shaun Todhunter replied for Birtley Saint Josephs in a six-goal thriller.
Division Two leaders Longbenton were held to a draw by Whitburn Atheltic. David Short netted for the Bulls but Liam Donnelly netted for Athletic.
Wallsend Boys Club are shaping up to be promotion contenders and Chris Brennan struck twice in their win over Grainger Park. Michael Starkie got the other.
Ross Muter, John Bone (2) and Mick Angus kept AFC Newbiggin’s title hopes on track at Wideopen and Curtis Miller netted a hat-trick in Isabella’s victory at Cramlington United. Dan Gray had given them a shock with the opener, but further goals from Andy Davison and Micky Meins completed the turnaround.
Daniel Cotton went one better with four in High Howdon’s win over Swalwell. Chris Marshall got the other with Danny Igo replying.
Jonny Dobson, James Fenwick, Lewis Meech and an own goal completed the Gateshead Leam Rangers tally at Alnwick Town Res, with Neil McFall the Town targetman.
Newcastle Benfield Res hit-man Andy McBride plundered a treble in his side’s fourth win on the bounce against West Allotment Celtic A. Chris Thompson added another with Ben Jackson the Celtic scorer.

Northern Alliance Round Up 08/03/14



Walker Cental were held by ten man Carlisle City as Red House Farm closed the gap at the top to two points.
Matty Hayton headed central ahead but Rob McCartney levelled from the spot in the 70th minute – just ten minutes after Central keeper Liam Mooney had saved another penalty.
Michael Armstrong struck a hat-trick with Reece Farndell and paul Newton-Eddy getting the others for Red House as they beat Hebburn Reyrolle.
It also ended 5-0 at Stocksfield, who had Andrew Hall, Rob grainey, Josh Draycott, Carl Campbell and Phil Murray (pen) on the scoresheet.
Seaton Delaval went one better with six against Rutherford.
Michael Fenwick was the Red Devil’s hat-trick hero and Ryan Hutchinson, Kevin Westphal and Mason Stephenson got the others. Peter Williams and Chris Garwood scored for Rutherford.
Robbie Ridley hit the only goal late on as Ashington Colliers beat Northbank.
Shankhouse keeper Robbie Joyce saved two penalties as they dumped Blyth Town out of the Northumberland FA Les Todd Senior Benevolent Bowl. The ‘Hoose will meet Killingworth Station in the final, who beat Whitley Bay A with a Lee Hamilton double. Lewis Burns pulled one back.
Glen Johnson’s second half double gave Willington Quay Saints the win at Hexham, who had led through a Mark Gibson strike.
Andrew Renton netted the only goal as Bohemians won on the road at Wooler and Sam Redpath scored the winner for Heddon at Bedlington Terriers Reserves.
Andrew Davidson’s penalty for Ponteland United was cancelled out by a penalty from New Fordley’s Lee Waugh.
Chemfica led 2-0 against Birtley Saint Josephs with a Steve McLaughlin double but were pegged back as Lee Cuthbertson struck twice.
Scott Jasper bagged a brace as North Shields Athletic beat Newcastle Uni, who had Jesse Walkin on target.
Michael Moor and Chris Connor shot home as Cullercoats beat AFC Newbigggin in the Blue Fin Group Bill Gardner Memorial Trophy quarter finals. They will face Seaton Delaval in the semis of the competition.
Alex Nisbet and David Short struck as Division Two leaders Longbenton kept on top with a win at High Howdon while Grainger Park went second as Liam Anderson and Shaun Sager netted against Gateshead Leam rangers, who pulled one back late on through James Fenwick.

Northern Alliance Round Up 1/3/14



Malcolm Morien slammed in a hat-trick as Blyth Town demolished Hebburn Reyrolle and cut the gap at the top to four points.
David Atkinson (2), Ian Lee, Daniel Beresford and Jonathon Mann got the others while Walker Central had Matty Hayton on target twice at Shankhouse but went down to goals from Niall Younger (2) and Adam Bambrough.
Andy Robertson (2), Lewis Burns and Gav Hattrick netted for Whitley Bay A in their victory at Percy Main and a goal in each half from Roi Ticknell and Martin Soulsby gave Red House Farm the points against Carlisle City.
Glen Caygill, Phil Murray and Gavin Watt fired in for Stocksfield as they won at Killingworth Station, who replied twice through Michael Bowman and Lee Hamilton while a solitary Andrew Sherrard strike gave Northbank the win at Wallington.
Gateshead Redheugh blew the Division One title race wide open with goals from Liam Henderson and John Dewhirst at leaders Cramlington Town.
Dean McArthur hit a hat-trick in Cullercoats’ 6-2 success at Heddon and Jesse Walkin and Dan Clements both bagged braces in Newcastle Uni’s 6-2 win over New Fordley.

James Fenwick also struck twice as Gateshead Leam Rangers beat Wideopen. Lewis Conroy, Dean Mulholland and Tony Falconer added to the tally with James Keelan getting the consolation.
Dan Carr and Matt Lavender were on the scoresheet for Blyth Isabella as they beat Alnwick Town Reserves, who had Ross Straughan on target while Dwayne Murray grabbed a late leveller for Grainger Park, who were trailing to own goal that put high Howdon ahead.
Dave Hewitt, Craig Jackson and Carl Langa (2) gave Seaton Burn the points against Cramlington United, who netted through Ben Davison.
Ben Jefferson and Thai Blevins gave Newcastle Benfield Reserves the advantage against Wallsend Boys Club, who hit back strongly and pulled one back through Nicky Whitelaw. But the Benfield youngsters dug in and hit a third on the break though Stephen Thompson to book a spot in the BlueFin Group Amateur Cup Final.
John Bone’s early strike put AFC Newbiggin ahead against local rivals Red Row Welfare in the Northumberland FA Minor Cup semi finals.
Jonathon McEnaney extended the advantage and although Sean Palmer pulled one back, Ross Muter headed in a third to put the Seasiders through.
 They are joined at Whitley Park by North Shields Athletic, who had John Wyres (2), Scott Jasper (2) and Ben Pollock on the scoresheet in a great win at Newcastle Chemfica.

Northern Alliance Round Up 22/02/14



Northbank sub Ross Irving scored two specials as they Cumbrians rocked Whitley Bay A.
Irving smashed one into the top corner from 25 yards with his first touch and although Andrew Robertson levelled when he went around the keeper and tucked away, Irving was the hero when he fired the winner through a crowd of players from the edge of the box.
Carlisle City’s Martin Shepherd also hit a double as the Sky Blues hit back after Danny Beresford had given hosts Blyth Town the advantage, with Connor Andrews popping up to share the spoils.
Lee Hamilton’s hat-trick for Killingworth Station included two penalties against Seaton Delaval, who had Mason Stephenson on the scoresheet while Stocksfield’s Phil Davidson slammed in a treble against Rutherford. Keiron Day netted direct from a corner and Kane Wight completed the scoring.
Michael Armstrong, Michael Strachan and Paul Newton-Eddy scored in Red House Farm’s win over Percy Main, who hit back through Stewart Wright, while Adam Smith and Stephen Cockburn (pen) were Hebburn Reyrolle’s scorers in their draw with Ashington Colliers, whose hit-men were James Brown and Joe Moscrop.
Walker Central stretched their lead at the top to seven points with goals from Carl Begbie and Christopher Maddocks against Wallington, who grabbed a late consolation thanks to an own goal.
Birtley Saint Josephs put a dent in Cramlington Town’s title hopes in Division One with goals from Dan Waller, Anthony Smith and James Bowman while Bohemians took the points against New Fordley with goals from Derek Ure, Tavis Couling and an own goal. New Fordley’s consolation was also an own goal.
Luke Fisher’s own goal gave Hexham the lead at Newcastle Uni which was cancelled out by an Angus Taylor screamer while Liam Anderson and Andrew Davison (pen) netted for Ponteland United as they beat Wooler.
Gary Hall hit a late winner for Heddon at Willington Quay Saints. Dan Robinson (2) and Andrew Davison got the others with Andy Breheny, Grant Starling and Glen Johnson (pen) successful at the other end for battling Saints.
Longbenton’s hopes of regaining top spot in Division Two were dashed against Newcastle Benfield Reserves, who netted through Ben Jefferson and Chris Thompson. Chris Sword scored for the Bulls.
Chris Chan, Chris Marshall, Stew Dodds and Dean Blacklock were High Howdon’s hit-men against Cramlington United – Tony Rees replying.
Goals from Liam Roberts and Liam Donnelly gave Whitburn the points at Swalwell, who pulled one back through Lee Cranney and Nicky Whitelaw, Michael Starkie and Carl Morrison scored for Wallsend Boys Club in their success against West Allotment Celtic A, who pulled one back courtesy of Sean Allen.
It ended goalless between Gateshead Leam Rangers and Seaton Burn.
Chris Rue, Peter Snowdon and Gary Yates scored for Shankhouse as they beat Prudhoe Town to go into the NFA Les Todd Senior Benevolent Bowl  semi-finals but their was heartache for Chopwell, who were reduced to nine men and went down 3-2 to Shildon Railway in the DFA Minor Cup semi final.
Cup kings Newcastle Chemfica held their nerve in a penalty shoot-out to book a spot in the Archers of Blyth George Dobbins League Cup Final.
Goals from Dean Laycock and Steve McLaughlin had been cancelled out by strikes from North Shields Athletic’s Scott Jasper and Liam Climpson before Chemfica won the shoot-out 3-2 to go into their second Cup Final so far this term.
And Alnwick Town Reserves went into the Final of the Bluefin Group Bill Gardner Trophy with an exciting 2-1 win over Blyth Isabella. Dominic Schievetta and Peter Murray fired in for Town, with Dan Wardle netting the Isabella consolation.

Northern Alliance round up 15/02/14



The headache for Northern Alliance fixture secretaries Len Renham and George Davison shows no signs of letting up as the wet weather again decimated the programme.
A Josh Draycott double and a Rob Grainey strike gave Stocksfield three points against basement side Hebburn Reyrolle in the Premier Division.
Lee Turnbull hit the only goal in Gateshead Leam Rangers’ win at High Howdon in Division Two and AFC Newbiggin went into the semi finals of the Northumberland FA Minor Cup as they thumped Hexham 6-0.
Ross Muter and Darren Burn both struck twice with Michael Angus and Jon McEnaney getting the others.

Northern Alliance round up 8/2/14



Waterlogged pitches played havoc with the Northern Alliance fixtures for the sixth week running and the League now faces the prospect of a fixture backlog towards the end of the season.
Second half strikes from Mason Stephenson and Stephen Howes gave Seaton Delaval Amateurs the points against Stocksfield while it ended goalless at Northbank as they took on leaders Walker Central in an end-to-end game.
Gareth Pearson slotted the only goal for Wooler in a good win at Birtley Saint Josephs in Division One and it ended all square between Newcastle Uni and second-placed Newcastle Chemfica (Independent). Dan Clements and Dave Kewn netted for the Students with Dean Laycock and Steve McLaughlin scoring for ‘Fica.
Dean Mulholland bagged a brace in Gateshead Leam Rangers’ demolition job on West Allotment Celtic A in Division Two.
Louis Meach, Lee Turnbull, Mark Williams, Liam Grant, Ryan Gibson and James Fenwick all added to the total as they piled on the agony.
High Howdon’s Chris Marshall, Chris Phillips and Anthony Bruce netted as they surprised second placed Longbenton, who had Pete Webster on the scoresheet.
Gateshead Redheugh celebrated booking a spot in the Final of the Durham FA Trophy. Goals from Kev Hay and Scott Robson put them in control and although Sunderland Hylton pulled one back, they conceded an own goal to restore Redheugh’s two goal advantage. Hylton pulled another back but the Division One side held out for a shot at the silverware.
Lee Hamilton hit a hat-trick in Killingworth Station’s 5-0 win at Cramlington Town in the Northumberland FA Les Todd Senior Benevolent Bowl.
Michael Turner and an own goal completed the tally.

Cullercoats crashed out of the Northumberland FA Minor Cup with a 5-3 reverse at North Northumberland League side Red Row Welfare, but North Shields Athletic will join Newcastle Chemfica Independent in the semi finals after a 5-3 win at Blyth Isabella.
Anthony Keith, Anthony Etherington, Scott Jasper, Sean Millington and Liam Climpson all fired in for Athletic with Andrew Haigh, Jake Miller and Dan Carr netting for a spirited Isabella.

Northern Alliance Round Up 01/02/14



With persistent rain falling all week on already waterlogged pitches, the Northern Alliance programme took another heavy hit.
Whitley Bay A beat Wallington 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out after the game had ended goalless to go into the Les Todd Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl semi finals. Keeper Michael Hammond saved twice to earn the plaudits.
Dean Laycock and Steve McLaughlin fired in for Newcastle Chemfica (Independent) as they secured a spot in the Northumberland FA Minor Cup semi-finals by beating Ponteland United.
Kev Bell’s double for Wooler was cancelled out by two Dan Clements strikes for Newcastle Uni in a promotion-chasing Division One clash while Shaun Sager hit a hat-trick for Grainger Park in an exciting ten-goal Second Division encounter with Newcastle Benfield on the 3G pitch at Blakelaw.
Liam Anderson struck twice and Nathan Lowdon got the other with Ben Jefferson also crashing in three times for Benfield Reserves as the game swung from end-to-end. Andrew McBride was also on target.
Chris Marshall was a hat-trick hero for High Howdon in their Friday night encounter at West Allotment Celtic A. Luke Molloy got the other, with Shaun Boyle striking for Celtic.

Northern Alliance Round Up 25/01/14



The Northern Alliance fixture list was almost completely washed out by heavy rain, with only five games getting the go ahead.
Louis Meach and Michael Tucker fired in for Gateshead Leam Rangers as they booked a spot in the Bluefin Group Amateur Cup Final with a good win at Chopwell, who netted through Derek Waters.
In the Premier Division, Darren Walsh struck twice for leaders Walker Central and James Walker added another but hosts Red House Farm came from behind to win it with goals from Lee Brady (2), Rees Farndell and Robbie Nolan.
Andrew Davidson slotted home the only goal of the game late on from the penalty spot as Ponteland United beat Newcastle Chemfica in Division One.
Jack Bell, John Dewhirst and Robbie Frame scored for Redheugh in their win over New Fordley, who had Joe Besford and Lee Waugh on the scoresheet.
Their was a glut of goals in the only game in Division Two, with Dan Carr (2), Jake Miller, Billy Olechnowicz and Paul Huck netting for Blyth Isabella as they beat Whitburn Athletic in a nine-goal thriller.

Northern Alliance round up 18/01/14

Sam Walton netted a late winner for Wallington as they beat Whitley Bay A to go into the final of the Bay Plastics Challenge Cup.
Jonny Godsmark gave the visitors an early lead and although Walton missed the chance to level from the penalty spot, he crossed for his brother Jake to head in the equaliser then struck the winner with eleven minutes to go.
It ended goalless in the other semi between Walker Central and Red House farm in a thrilling and entertaining game between two good teams. Central won it on penalties.
Steve McLaughlin’s hat-trick put Newcastle Chemfica into the final of the Bay Plastics Combination Cup.
Liam Henderson and Alan Pegram replied for hosts Gateshead Redheugh.
Ricky Lee James bagged a brace and Nicky Routledge got the other as Northbank hit visitors Percy Main on the break. Stuart Wright and Daniel Sneap replied, but the Villagers couldn’t force the issue and Eddie Keenan drilled in a second half hat-trick for Rutherford as they beat Hebburn Reyrolle.
Wooler’s Luke Strangeways and Michael Saunders were on target as they beat Bedlington Terriers Reserves and an Adam Shanks double and Chris Anderson strike put leaders Cramlington Town in charge at New Fordley.
The hosts hit back through Ben Davison and Zak Tully, but late a late brace from Jordan Watson ensured that Town went nine points clear.
Division Two leaders AFC Newbiggin also stayed out in front with second half goals from Kevin Halliday and David Hepple against Cramlington United.
Second-placed Longbenton came from 4-0 down to beat Wideopen with a dramatic injury time winner from Anthony Brown.
James Keelan (2), Andy malone and Dan Cormac had put the visitors in charge but David Short led the fightback with a hat-trick and Chris Sword got the other.
Chris Chan (2) and craig Black were High Howdon’s scorers in their win over Newcastle Benfield Reserves, with Steven Thompson bagging a brace in return.
Chopwell booked a spot in the semi finals of the Durham FA Minor Cup as they came from behind to beat fellow Alliance side Whitburn Athletic.
Liam Roberts knocked in from close range to put the visitors ahead but second half goals from Andy Smith, Alan Rennison and Kevin Regan put Chopwell through.
Blyth Isabella went into the quarter finals of the Northumberland FA Minor Cup with goals from Dan Long (2), Dan Carr and Michael Meins at Newcastle Barca Rovers.

Connor Johnson (3), Dylan Blake (3), Andrew Robertson (3), Johnny Godsmark (2) and David Fairgrieve, Liam Harris and Lewis Burns were the Whitley Bay A scorers in a fourteen goal mauling of basement side Hebburn Reyrolle, who did find the net through Chris Ives, Adam Smith and Michael Alexander.
Darren Walsh and Kurt Burns netted as Walker Central went back to the top with a win over Percy Main and Ricky Lee James hit the only goal for Northbank as they beat Stocksfield.
Paul Bonnick and Michael Fenwick were Seaton Delaval’s scorers in a good win over Red House Farm, who pulled one back late on through Lee Dunn.
Chris Anderson struck twice as Cramlington Town won the top of Division One clash at Gateshead Redheugh. Lee Middleton and Kevin Long got the others – Kev Hay and Robbie Frame replied.

Northumberland FA Minor Cup

Newcastle Chemfica trailed to Newcastle City after an hour but Ian Hutchinson got them level from the penalty spot. Further goals from Dieu Lomana, Dan Sherliker and Steve McLaughlin saw Chemfica into the quarter finals.
Glen Johnson’s penalty put Willington Quay Saints ahead against North Shields Athletic, but goals from Scott Jasper and Max Zaborus turned the game around.

Northern Alliance round up 04/01/14



Carlisle City led at Wallington through a Tom Lucock double but late goals from Dan Thompson and Sam Walton salvaged a point for the Greens.
James Walker struck the only goal in the 70th minute as Walker Central beat Whitley Bay A.
Northbank hit Ashington Colliers for six, with Ricky Lee James and Nicky Routledge both bagging braces. Andrew Griffiths and Rhys Walker got the others as the Cumbrians moved up to mid-table, with Darren Riddell notching the consolation.
Michael Fenwick shot Seaton Delaval ahead against Percy Main but Stewart Wright, on his return to his old club, grabbed the equaliser.
