When the Ashington Colliers keeper pulled off a stunning
point blank save to deny Blyth
Town in a frantic final
five minutes, they knew it wasn’t going to be their day.
The game was fairly even throughout but Town piled on the
pressure towards the end as they looked for the three points that would have
put them top.
Killingworth Station’s title hopes were kept alive with a
win at Northbank courtesy of strikes by Martin Roper, Michael Bowman, Scott
Bowman and Daniel Young but red House Farm’s dreams of silverware were all but
dashed in a bad-tempered defeat at Whitley
Bay A that saw both sides
reduced to ten men.
David Fairgrieve and Lewis Burns hit the goals.
Peter Williams and Mark McMeekin netted for Rutherford as
they came from behind to beat Seaton Delaval, who had Michael Fenwick on
target, while Carlisle
City’s Marc Shiel and
Jamie Hope were on the scoresheet as they beat Shankhouse, who replied through
Paul Dunn.
Stewart Wright’s double gave Percy Main the advantage against
Stocksfield, who missed a penalty, but the Griffins drew level with goals from
Ben Dibb-Fuller and Keiron Day.
John Paxton, Jordan Nellis and an own goal put Wallington in
charge against Hebburn Reyrolle with Bede Finnegan and Derek Graham hitting
consolations for the ten-man visitors.
A Paul Joisce goal right on half time gave Division One
leaders Cramlington
Town the points against
Newcastle Uni while title chasers North Shields Athletic and Newcastle Chemfica
both slipped up.
Francis Storey shot lowly Heddon ahead against Athletic, who
replied thanks to Ryan bailey and although Kyle Burnip was on target for
Chemfica, they were held by Hexham who netted courtesy of Matthew Blackith.
Scott Bamborough and Craig Dunn scored in New Fordley’s win
over Bedlington Terriers Reserves and Andy Renton, Chris Dougthwaite and Tavis
Couling (pen) were Gosforth Bohemians’ hit-men at Ponteland United. Daniel
Wright pulled one back.
Ryan Davenport bagged a brace in Redheugh’s win over Wooler
with Andy May and Alan Pegram getting the others. Luke Strangeways and Michael
Saunders hit the target for the visitors.
Lee Cuthbertson was another two-goal hero for Birtley Saint
Josephs in their win over Cullercoats. Mark Hammond and Anthony Smith added
others and Elliott Mitchell pulled one back.
Red-hot Ross Muter slammed in FIVE as AFC Newbiggin hit West
Allotment Celtic A for six – and went top of Division Two. Kris Allington also
beat the keeper.
Blyth Isabella went one better as Dan Carr cracked in a
hat-trick at Swalwell.
Che Aisbett, Daniel Hislop and Jake Miller (2-1 pen) added
to the total at Swalwell who netted a consolation through Colin Meadows.
Stu Taylor’s last minute shot was fumbled over the line by
the Wideopen keeper to give Seaton Burn the win and Michael Starkie struck
twice in Wallsend Boys Club’s win at Cramlington United. Steve McCabe and David
Pounder completed the total.
Kenny Collins, Ross Straughan, Steve Hogg, Ryan Taylor and
Neil McFall all crashed in for Alnwick Town Reserves against High Howdon, who
pulled tow back from Daniel Cotton and Paul Patton.
