Pin Point Recruitment Amateur Cup Final (At Swalwell FC,
Derwenthaugh)
Whickham Lang Jacks 2 Willington Quay Saints 1
Lang Jacks keeper Mark Innes pulled off a string of stunning
saves in a man of the match performance as they lifted the Amateur Cup at the
third attempt.
The first effort to play the game fell foul of the weather
and the second was abandoned due to a serious injury to a Saints player.
Willington Quay made a great start and Kane Chirnside fired
them ahead in the ninth minute on a bumpy pitch at Swalwell.
Innes made a couple of superb stops to keep Lang Jacks in
it, and they levelled in the 40th minute as Joe Bell struck.
Just four minutes later Jacks were in dreamland as Paul
Silcock netted the second.
Saints had a great chance to level when they were awarded a
spot-kick with ten minutes to play, but Innes guessed correctly and pulled off
another top draw save to give his side the silverware.
