Kicks Leisure George Dobbins League Cup Final

Ashington Colliers 0 Heaton Stannington 1

Forget TV’s Paul McKenna – Heaton Stannington hit-man Lawrence McKenna’s last-minute moment of magic won the Kicks Leisure George Dobbins League Cup.
With a pulsating game seemingly heading for extra time after both sides had created and squandered chances, rattled the woodwork and seen some top class saves from both goalkeepers, McKenna appeared at the back post to tuck a deep cross into the back of the net.
Devastated Ashington were left slumped on the turf as McKenna’s tap-in sparked scenes of celebration to bring the curtain came down on the Pin Point Recruitment Northern Football Alliance season.

Northern Alliance Round-Up 21/05/11

Ponteland United hit-man Harry Tulip was in wonderland as he netted a dramatic late winner that clinched the Premier Division title in sensational style.
There were just three minutes left on the clock and fingernails were being bitten all around the ground when Tulip struck.
A low cross was whipped in from the right and the number 9 got there first to tuck away at the near post and spark mad scenes of celebration.
It was made all the more remarkable by the fact that United had come back from 2-0 down and a draw would have handed the title to Alnwick Town, who were left devastated by a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Heaton Stannington.
David Atkinson low drive in the second minute was followed up by a Gary Day strike in the 20th as United made a disastrous start.
Andrew Davidson lashed in the loose ball when a header was saved just two minutes later and in the 47th minute he added a second from the penalty spot after Richard Kent had been brought down.
With the clock ticking down and League Officials preparing to make the dash up the A1 with the silverware, Tulip became the hero.
Goals from Lawrence McKenna, on the half hour, and Ian Irvine, in the 65th minute, put a huge dent in Alnwick’s title hopes.
When Stephen Hogg pulled one back in the 80th minute, Town were however still on course for the championship – until Tulip broke their hearts.
Ashley Smith netted a treble in Percy Main Amateur’s thumping 9-0 win over Gateshead Rutherford.
Malcolm Morien opened the scoring in the first minute and the Villagers added three more in the next ten minutes through Luke Coiffait, Smyth and John Amos.
Luke Shadforth made it five in the 63rd minute and Smyth was on target again in the 71st. Morien grabbed has double in the 83rd and Michael Bowman struck a minute later. Main were awarded a penalty with two minutes to go and Smyth stepped up to tuck in his treble.
Former Annan Athletic striker Steve Archibald hit four for Harraby CC in an 8-1 drubbing of a young Walker Central side.
Archibald struck in the 13th, 62nd, 82nd and 90th minutes with Giuseppe Amato, Jordan Cowley, Alan Casey and an own goal making up the tally. 39-year-old Ian Milburn marked his last game for the club in setting up two goals with defence splitting passes and Grant Kershaw hit the consolation.
Wark look relegated after going down 3-2 at home to Seaton Delaval Amateurs.
Nick Gray is leaving his post as Delaval manager and celebrated with a goal while Steven Grey and Steven Anderson were also on target. Tony Lancaster and Steven Shiel responded for the home side.
Ashington Colliers Glen Bolton and Dylan Williamson scored in their 2-1 win over Carlisle City with Mark Graham netting for the Cumbrians.
Whitley Bay A are on the way up from Division One and just hours after lifting the Northumberland FA Minor Cup at Blue Flames – Gavin Hattrick, Dean Porter and Ian Lee scoring in a 3-1 victory over Blyth Isabella – they were 3-1 winners over Morpeth Sporting. Porter hit a double and Sean Jobson added the other.
Berwick united ultras pulled off a great escape as Craig Heugh’s goal gave them a 1-0 win over Gosforth Bohemians that lifted them clear of the relegation zone but Forest Hall were dragged back into the bottom two as they went down 2-0 at third-placed Amble United. Lee Harker and Josh Hay scored for the Seasiders.
Northbank’s John Derkins and Andrew Rogerson scored as they came from behind to beat Division Two basement side Wideopen, who had taken the lead through Charlie Noble.

Northern Alliance Round Up 14/05/11

Ponteland United’s championship hopes were all but consigned to the scrap heap as they blew it at Gateshead Rutherford.
Although Dean Gate had shot a lethargic United ahead in the 35th minute, they switched off just two minutes after the break and paid a heavy price.
A throw-in put Rutherford in around the back and the ball was pulled back for Robbie Frame to tap in the equaliser.
Ponteland couldn’t get going and never mounted a serious threat on the Rutherford goal as they took that point that ensures Premier League football next term.
Alnwick Town are now holding all the aces in the final week’s action as they top the table by a point with a game in hand. A victory at Heaton Stannington on Wednesday night would give them their tenth title.
Alnwick went behind at home to Stocksfield as Phil Murray struck in the 21st minute, but levelled through Ben Keenan ten minutes later.
Although Albert Straughan’s side were reduced to ten men as Kev Elliot saw red, a David Davidson second half double put them in charge and Chis Moffat topped things off.
David Dormand is in line to lift the Premier League Golden Boot, but the Shankhouse hit-man was left red-faced as he blazed one penalty over the bar and had another saved against lowly Murton.
Anth Moran and Chris Rue scored to put Shankhouse in control and although Paul Wintripp pulled one back, Dormand fired in the third a couple of minutes from the end.
David Wallace powered in a header to give Harraby CC the lead at Cramlington Town and Mark Boyd popped up unmarked to volley in a second. Assistant manager Darren Noctor forced home a third at the near post and Mike Swift completed a comfortable victory when he tucked away a penalty.
Blyth Town bounced back from a nightmare run of three straight defeats with a 3-0 success at Carlisle City. David Atkinson gave Town an early lead and second half strikes from Craig Hopwood and Chris Lisle sealed the win.
Ian Nicholls scored a late winner as Ashington Colliers came from behind to beat Heaton Stannington 2-1. Paddy Yates had given Heaton a 40th minute lead that was cancelled out by Dylan Williamson in the 65th minute.
Hebburn Reyrolle’s march towards the Premier Division continued with a 7-1 thumping of Peterlee Town. Ray Oshin hit four, Domonic Solman two and Kristian Wilkinson grabbed the other as Reyrolle moved towards their third trophy of the season, having already lifted the Combination Cup and Durham FA Trophy. Darren Major hit the consolation.
Second-placed Whitley Bay A were also firing on all cylinders with a 6-1 thrashing of Heddon. Ian Lee hit two with Mark Waite, Christopher Gillespie, Dean Porter and Gav Hattrick all joining in.

Josh Gow(2), Stephen Wilkinson, Pete Hall and Matt Buckley got on the score sheet for Bohs with Adam Shanks grabbing a double in reply.
Adam Carr scored for Newcastle East End, but to no avail as they went down 3-1 at home to Newcastle Uni.
Division Two Champions Newcastle Chemfica Independent went down 2-1 at second-placed Wallsend Town.
Sean Reid and Dekka Graham were Town’s marksmen with Steve McLaughlin netting for the champs.
Stuart Rook banged in a hat-trick for Swalwell as they beat Tynemouth united 4-1. Matthew Scott got the other and Steve Boyle hit the reply while goals in each half from Darren Dobson and Sean Henderson earned Hexham a 2-0 victory over Seaton Burn.

winner as the Griffins completed an amazing turnaround to lift the

Division One’s Shields United had Aristote Guerin and Tijan Kah on
target in three minutes just before the break to put them in control.

Ponteland began brightly at the reigning Champions and top scorer Harry Tulip went close with a header that was tipped around the post by keeper Jordan English.
But Matthew Thompson smashed the opener into the roof of the net for Harraby when a Steve Archibald shot had been blocked.
Midfielder Mark Boyd dusted himself off after being hacked 30 yards from goal to curl around the wall and into the top corner for number two and former Annan Athletic hit-man Archibald reacted quickest to slide and poke in the third when a back-pass bobbled over horrified keeper Michael Havelock’s boot.
United pulled one back after the break as Ross Phillips powered in a six-yard header but a number of players saw yellow and the assistant boss was sent from the touchline as frustrations boiled over.
Scott McMullen’s free kick flew through a crowd of bodies and crept into the net as Alnwick boosted their title hopes with a narrow victory in front of a bumper crowd of over 100 at Percy Main Amateurs.
