Northern Alliance Round Up 30/3/13


Dan Quine’s 75th minute free kick blew the title race wide open.
The Walker Central midfielder fired over the wall and into the back of leaders Amble United’s net to win it.
The Seasiders had led through Brent Aisbitt’s first half strike but Quine equalised with an unstoppable drive three minutes after the break.
Blyth Town were rocked in the first minute at Ashington Colliers as David Brown was on target but they recovered to move within two points of Amble – with three games in hand.
David Atkinson levelled from the penalty spot, Malcolm Morien netted the second and a Shaun Gibson own goal rounded things off.
Carlisle City’s title hopes took a dent at ten-man Shankhouse. The Sky Blues led through Stuart Kilgour’s effort but Paul Dunn equalised just before the break and Dean Deagle grabbed the winner just after the interval.
Harraby hit five in a blistering first half display against Wallsend Town – Dean Armstrong (2), David Fisher, Dan Balmer and Matthew Thompson all cashing in. Town improved after the break and Chris Garwood struck twice in reply.
Liam Callaghan (2), Connal Reed and Nathan Castle swept home in Killingworth Sporting’s comfortable win over Rutherford while goals from Declan Stokie and Phil Murray (pen) gave Stocksfield the points against Hebburn Reyrolle, who pulled one back late in the game through Danny Igo.
Whitley Bay A’s Lewis Burns netted against Seaton Delaval but it ended all-square as Mason Stephenson slotted in at the other end.
Ben Telford’s deflected drive gave Heaton Stannington an early lead at Blyth Isabella in the Kicks Leisure George Dobbins League Cup semi final but the hosts made a real game of it and were by no means disgraced as Jonathon Wright thundered in a late second on the half volley to book the black and whites a place against Wallington in the Final which takes place at Woodhorn Lane, Ashington on Thursday 25th April, kick-off 7pm.
Martin Soulsby’s third minute penalty put Red House Farm in front at Cramlington Town and Kev Long had his head in his hands 7 minutes later as he put into his own net. Michael Steinmetz added a third in the 85th minute and Gary McRoberts hit a consolation for the leaders a couple of minutes later while Kane Chirnside’s hat-trick for Willington Quay Saints handed Wallington a surprise defeat.
Goals from Sam Walton and David Featherstone weren’t enough for the Greens, while Northbank also slipped up as Boh’s Matt Atkin hit the only goal at Sheepmount.
Heddon moved up into second spot with Daniel Robinson, Robert Frame and Andrew Davidson crashing in against Cullercoats, whose consolation came courtesy of Craig Deighton’s boot.
Goals from Zac Atkinson and a John Dewhirst penalty put Redheugh in charge at Hexham and although Orin Parkinson pulled one back from the penalty spot they held on for the win while Shaun Cowel and Dylan Williamson were on target for Bedlington Terriers reserves as they got back on track with a victory over Newcastle Chemfica.
Darren Percy netted for Morpeth Town A as they picked up a precious point against Forest Hall, whose targetman was Matty Smith.
Wooler took just two minutes to grab the opener in the top of the table clash at North Shields Athletic in Division Two, but Anthony Keith levelled from the penalty spot just five minutes later. Sean Millington put Athletic ahead before the break and they didn’t look back as further strikes from Scott Jasper and Matty Donkin stretched their lead at the top to five points.
Wideopen’s promotion push kept momentum with goals from Andrew Shaw, Leigh Shickle, Ross Dickinson and Chris Sword against 10-man Seaton Burn, who had Jonathon Sutcliffe and Stephen Baker on the scoresheet while Lee Waugh and Andy Waugh scored for New Fordley at Alston, who netted through Adam Walton.
Dwayne Murray hit a hat-trick in Grainger Park’s success over High Howdon, with Chrissy Robinson getting the other. Scott Dodds and Tony Johnston replied while Michael Starkie was also a hat-trick hero in Wallsend Boys Club’s draw at Longbenton. Jed Findlay got the other with the Bulls stretching the net from Anthony Brown (2), David Short and Tony Woods in an all-action end-to-end encounter.
Defences were on top though at Newcastle Benfield Reserves as their game against Cramlington United ended goalless.

Northern Alliance Round Up 23/3/13


Leaders Amble United were left looking nervously over their shoulders as their game fell victim to the weather and Blyth Town closed the gap at the top.
Town took just sixty seconds to open against Carlisle City with Craig Hopwood’s drive deflecting into the top corner, but they were pegged back as the Cumbrians levelled through a Robbie Mather header.
The Sky Blues went ahead as Tom Lucock fired in from the penalty spot but the game was levelled up again when Ian Lee crashed in from distance.
The issue wasn’t settled until the 82nd minute when Joe Race’s shot pin-balled in the box and Daniel Beresford reacted quickest to stab it home past a melee of bodies.
A Michael Hogg double and Joe Moscrop strike gave Ashington Colliers a good win over Killingworth Sporting and Adrian Sutcliffe’s strike for Stocksfield proved the winner at Seaton Delaval.
Hebburn Reyrolle gave themselves hope of getting out of the relegation dogfight as John Murray hit a late seven minute hat-trick against Percy Main.
Curtis Richardson’s opener for Reyrolle was cancelled out by Micky Haley, but Murray stole the show with a smart lob, penalty and shot in off the post.
Paul Hollier and James Walker were Walker Central’s hit men in a win over Morpeth Town A that put them into the Pin Point Recruitment Bill Gardner Memorial Trophy Final and Wallsend Town were made to sweat at Grainger Park as they went into the semi-finals after fighting back from two down.
Tony Leach and Robert Jefferson crashed home and the Division Two outfit were just the width of the woodwork from a third before Steve Matthews (2), Craig Burke and Lee Garwood netted at the other end.
Daniel Robinson slammed in a hat-trick for Heddon as they went fourth in Division One with a good win over struggling Bedlington Terriers Reserves.
Steven Sattherswaite got the other with Robbie Eastway notching a consolation. Newcastle Chemfica led at Red House Farm through Craig Robinson but the hosts powered back with strikes from Dale Pearson, Marty Soulsby, Paul Newton-Eddy, Patrick Collins and Jack Martin and Hexham hit six without reply at Newcastle Uni.
Stu Brown (2), Liam Heenan, Neil Tiffin, Tom Hacking and Kurtis Harvey were on the scoresheet for the Tynedalers while goals from Jason Cape and Noel Clynch gave Willington Quay Saints victory at Cullercoats, who netted through the ever-dependable Daniel Sneap.
North Shields Athletic remain in pole position in Division Two as a Scott Jasper double and Johnny Wyres strike gave them the points at Seaton Burn, who grabbed a consolation with a late Dave Hewitt penalty.
New Fordley led 2-0 at Birtley Saint Josephs through a Lee Waugh penalty and stunning lob by the same player. But Saint Joe’s staged a storming comeback with Damien Stevens slamming home in the 70th minute to give them hope, then Tony Smith levelled from the penalty spot two just minutes later. Birtley were reduced to ten men as Dan Irving saw red but a brilliant Stevens individual effort put them in front in the 80th minute. There was still time for New Fordley to be awarded a penalty, but St. Joe’s keeper Jamie Sexton was the hero as he pulled off a great stop.
Goals from James Scott, Mark Forrest and James Jeffrey ensured that Wooler won the north Northumbrian derby against Alnwick Town reserves, who netted through Neil McFall, and David Short crashed home a hat-trick in Longbenton’s emphatic win at Cramlington United.
Tim Bolton, Mark Moon, Robert Woods and Anthony Brown (2) piled on the agony with Niall Younger and Ryan Waite on target for the hosts.
Matthew Lavender, Che Aisbett and Andrew Haigh netted for Blyth Isabella as they edged out High Howdon, who had Nicky Whitelaw grab a double and Michael Starkie scored for Wallsend Boys Club as they shared a point with Wideopen.

Northern Alliance Round Up 16/03/13



Blyth Town turned up the heat at the top of the Premier Division as they extended their unbeaten run to thirteen games.
Craig Johnson fired the opener into the top corner against Hebburn Reyrolle and although the visitors put up a fight, David Atkinson nodded in number two late on and Kyle Devlin added the third with five minutes to go.
Liam Harris (2), Paolo Black and Craig Brown netted for Whitley Bay A in their win against Shankhouse, who had Chris Rue and Jordan Walsh on target and a solitary late goal from Ian Irving gave Seaton Delaval the points against Walker Central.
Callum Benson, Liam Callaghan and Darren Walsh crashed in for Killingworth Sporting but Percy Main’s Chris Glass (2) and Scott Pocklington netted at the other end to earn a draw.
A double from Jordan Watson and Marty Hepple strike saw Cramlington Town ease past Newcastle Uni – and back to the top of Division One.
Ollie Driver also struck twice for Northbank in their success against basement side Morpeth Town A, with Jamie Hope, Aaron Roberts and Cameron Wilson getting the other. A Gavin Lowes own goal gave Town a consolation, while Newcastle Chemfica hit-man Steve McLaughlin crashed in five in a 6-0 drubbing of Forest Hall. Tito Davison grabbed the other while Iain Harris’s strike gave Bohs three points against Willington Quay Saints.
Robbie Black’s goal for Bedlington Terriers Reserves wasn’t enough as Cullercoats struck twice to take the points.
North Shields Athletic took pole position in Division Two with goals from Craig Boyle (2), John Wyres and Anth Etherington at Grainger Park, who netted through Tony Leach and Robert Jefferson.
Wideopen kept their promotion push on track as they hit Alston for six. Ross Dickinson and David Gabbitus both bagged braces with Chris Sword and Leigh Shickle chipping in while Jason Williams notched the consolation.
Jason Walsh and Tony Johnson were on target for High Howdon as they shared a point with Wallsend Boys Club, whose scorers were Jed Finlay and Michael Starkie.
Paul Hodgson took just two minutes to fire Ponteland United ahead at Heddon in the Pin Point recruitment Combination Cup semi final.
Heddon levelled through Andrew Davison but late goals from Richard Kent and Billy Holden (pen) took the black and whites through to a final meeting with Red House Farm, who just edged out Redheugh.
Paul Newton-Eddy struck twice and Lee Brady was also celebrating with Kev Hay banging in a double for the hosts.
Heaton Stannington will play United in the Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl as Lee Johnson banged in a couple at Stocksfield and Gary Dixon got the other. Adrian Sutcliffe’s strike couldn’t force the issue for the Griffins.

Northern Alliance Round Up 9/3/13


Hit-man Josh Hay grabbed five in Amble United’s ten goal demolition job on basement side Rutherford.
Matty Graham, Brent Aisbitt, Derek Atwell, Rikki Hume and an own goal made up the Seasider’s tally as they bounced back from two recent defeats.
Danny Hill grabbed a consolation while second-placed Carlisle City were left kicking themselves as Seaton Delaval pulled off a smash and grab raid at the Sheepmount.
Kevin Westphal and Cameron Patrick netted late on for Delaval.
A Cameron Wilson hat-trick helped moved Northbank into third spot in Division One. Lee MacDermott got the other while Sean Smith notched for Cullercoats and goals from Red House Farm’s Dale Pearson, Marty Soulsby and Lee Brady eased them past Bedlington Terriers Reserves.
High Howdon’s Kyle Austin grabbed the winner in their Division Two clash with Alnwick Town Reserves.
Ponteland United pulled off a surprise at Percy Main to book a spot in the final of the Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl.
The Villagers went ahead as Scott Pocklington fired home in the opening minute but United hit back with goals from Billy Holden and a Dan Wright double.
Pocklington blasted in a second from distance late on but the black and whites held out to celebrate and Walker Central were given a real scare by Second Division New Fordley in the Pin Point recruitment Bill Gardner Trophy.
Central also lead in the opening minute as Nkuriza Suaibu fired home but a double from Ben Davison flipped the game on its head.
Dan Quine levelled before the break but the game was deep into stoppage time when Khris Carr grabbed the winner.

Northern Alliance round-up 02/03/13


Premier Division

Goals in each half from Malcolm Morien and debutant Craig Johnson gave Blyth Town a cracking win at Amble United, whose lead at the top is now down to three points as Carlisle City came from behind to beat Stocksfield.
Chris Hall slammed in a penalty for the Griffins but Robbie Mather, sub Sean Bannon and Tom Lucock, also from the spot, turned things around for the Cumbrians.
Dan Quine struck twice for Walker Central as they beat Wallsend Town in the East End derby with Craig Burke replying. It also ended 2-1 to the visitors at Harraby as Chris Bell grabbed a double for Percy Main and Darren Addison struck a penalty at the other end.
Ashington Colliers had Dave Brown and Joe Moscrop hit the net as they beat Rutherford, with Graeme Troughton scoring in reply while goals from Michael Fenwick and Jamie Dunn gave Seaton Delaval three points against Killingworth Sporting. Connal Reed was spot-on for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough.
Hebburn Reyrolle struck three times on the road through Josh McHugh (2) and Dean Stewart bit it wasn’t enough as hosts Shankhouse had Mark Brittain (2), Chris Rue and Paul Dunn all on target to win it.

Division One

Goals from Kev Long, Jordan Watson and Andrew Carr eased Cramlington Town to victory over Bedlington Terriers Reserves while leaders Wallington were given a mighty scare by Newcastle University.
The Students stormed into a 3-0 lead in 17 minutes as Robbie Goodyear, Tom Stapleton and Johnny Sexton (pen) all found the net. Jordan Nellis’s hat-trick spared the Greens blushes and saved a point.
Stev McLaughlin led the way for Chemfica with four against a shell-shocked Morpeth Town A. Richard Bissessur, Tito Davison (2), Dean Catlow and Kyle Burnie got the others in a romp with Gavin Agnew’s goal scant consolation.
Robert Frame and Michael Pooley both hit doubles as Heddon beat Bohs and Liam Anderson also struck twice for Ponteland United at Northbank.
Jack L’Argent and Andrew Davidson got the others with Mark Worrall replying while strikes from Joe Bell, Ryan Davenport, Kev Hay and John Dewhirst gave Redheugh three points at Willington Quays Saints. Kane Chirnside netted twice in reply.

Division Two

Scott Jasper and Ben Pollock crashed in for North Shields Athletic at Wallsend Town as they cut Birtley Saint Joseph’s lead at the top to one point.
Saint Joes’ striker Damien Stevens netted a brace as they were held at Wideopen, who had Michael Strachan and Kevin Ord hit the net as they led twice.
Wooler’s James Scott (2) and Mark Forrest celebrated as they saw off Blyth Isabella, who had Che Aisbitt notch, while goals from Andrew Bennett and a late Stephen Baker strike gave Seaton Burn the spoils at Longbenton.
John Wright (2) and Andy hall did the damage for Alston against Grainger Park and High Howdon just had enough to see off a spirited challenge from Swalwell.
The breathed a sigh of relief as goals from Nicky Whitelaw (2), Craig Black and Jason Walsh edged out the visitors in a seven-goal thriller. Craig Watson, Jack Gibson and Shaun Stonehouse banged home for Swalwell in an end-to-end encounter.
Stephen Hogg struck for Alnwick Town Reserves in their draw with Newcastle Benfield Reserves, who had Chris Thompson on target.

NFA Minor Cup

Hexham’s Marc Nixon netted the only goal in extra time as they beat spirited New Fordley to book a spot in the Minor Cup final.
They will face Red House Farm, whose scorers were Martin Soulsby (pen) and Mark Sheeran in a 2-1 win at Cullercoats.

NFA Senior Benevolent Bowl

Heaton Stannington went into the last four with goals from Kevin Carr and William James’ extra time winner giving them a 2-1 success at Whitley Bay A, whose target-man was Gav Hattrick.
