Northern Alliance Round Up 26/03/11

Stocksfield have taken just two points from a possible 21 in their last seven games and a 5-0 defeat at Killingworth has sucked them into the relegation battle.
Goals from Jorge Bollardo, Carl Common, Liam Callaghan, Paul Dunn and an own goal saw them crash to a side that they beat 2-0 at home back in October.
Murton are now breathing down their necks and were just seconds from securing three valuable points at Ashington Colliers when Sean McAfferty grabbed a stoppage time equaliser to cancel out Tom Wilkie’s opener.
Cramlington Town went down 4-1 at home to Seaton Delaval Amateurs and need to start picking up points if they are to avoid the drop.
Steven Anderson, Steve Howes, Craig cook and an own goal completed the delaval tally with Kieran Parsons on target for Town.
Ponteland United stretched their lead at the top to five points with a 3-0 win at Walker Cenral, who are also near the drop zone but have games in hand.
Glenn Ford headed in Andrew Davidson’s cross for the opener and Davidson curled in a free kick for the second.
Harry Tulip volleyed in number three after the break but the victory wasn’t as easy as it looked with Central’s Liam Mulligan and Harfer Alao both rattled the crossbar.
Carlisle City drew 0-0 at Gateshead Rutherford and Harraby CC have were held to a 1-1 draw by Heaton Stannington. Adam Donaghey shot Heaton in front in the 26th minute and Steve Archibald equalised mid-way through the second half.
Mark Andrews headed Blyth Town in front after just four minutes against Shankhouse but Ant Moran equalised right on half time.
Wark led twice against Percy Main but went down 3-2. Mark Elliott put them ahead but Malcolm Morien levelled from the penalty spot.
Thomas McAlindon made it 2-1 to Wark, but Main hit back and Morien sent Jonathon McEnaney clear shoot home before netting the winner himself with 13 minutes to go.
Newcastle University’s Edward Houlton scored the only goal of the game as they surprised Heddon 1-0 in the Combination Cup semi final.
They will face Hebburn Reyrolle in the Final as late goals from Michael Younger and Alan Pegram saw them beat Whitley Bay A 2-0. Younger struck in the 75th minute and Pegram’s 83rd minute penalty sealed the win.
Gareth Armstrong and David Fairless hit two apiece for Cullercoats as they beat North Shields Athletic 4-1 to close the gap at the top. Steve Cherry scored the consolation.
Arostote Guerin grabbed the winner for South Shields United as they moved up to fifth with a 2-1 win over Wallington. Jordan Nellis put Wallington in front in the 25th minute but an own goal levelled things up before Geurin struck.
Amble United’s Darren Riddell netted a double in a 2-2 draw at Gosforth Bohemian,  Tavis Couling and an own goal making the replies.
Newcastle East End’s Andy Graham was another player to score a double as they beat basement side Forest Hall 4-3 with Anthony Studholme and Dean Bell also on the scoresheet.
Adam Shanks netted a hat-trick for Stobswood Welfare and still ended up on the losing side.
Berwick United’s Michael Cornish hit a hat-trick himself as the goals were flying in in an eleven goal thriller. Craig Heugh, Martin Tait and Jamie Punton also netted in the 7-4 victory while Matthew Graham got the other for Stobswood.
Morpeth Sports had Mark Armstrong, Curtis Tait and Scott Bowman on target in a 3-0 success at Peterlee Town.
Newcastle Chemfica Independent’s Steve McLaughlin hit a hat-trick as they went back to the top of the table with a 5-0 victory over basement side Wideopen with Alex Pooley adding the other two.
Wallsend Town’s Sean Reid, Mickey Pooley, Craig Burke, Mickey Rankin and Paul McUtchon all scored as they ran out 5-0 winners at Whitley Bay Town.
Third=placed Simonside SC won 4-3 at Seaton Burn. Eric Thompson, Steven Graham(2) and Quinn scored with Ian Armstrong (penalty) and Nicky Hara (2) on target for the home side.
Swalwell’s Joe Johnson took just 30 seconds to fire them ahead at Wallsend Boys Club when pumped a long free kick forward from his own half that ended up in the back of the net. Rob Hanley levelled, but Darren Turbitt put them back in front before Scott Lynas found a second equaliser.
Cramlington United were just seconds from a famous 2-1 win over Tynemouth United when Anthony Brown levelled.

David Thompson’s spectacular chip from the half way line looked to have won it but Brown equalised deep into added time.
Glen Johnson scored twice, once from the penalty spot, for Willington Quay Saints in a 4-1 at Hexham
Colin Bell and Wesley Fidler added the others with Thomas North hitting the consolation.
Northbank were left heartbroken as they were beaten 2-0 by Netherhall in the Cumberland County Senior Cup semi-final. Keith Anderson netted a double for the West Cumbrian County League Champions.

Northern Alliance Round Up 19/03/11

Murton had to endure a nervous final five minutes when Philip Murray’s deflected shot pinballed into the net – but they held out to claim their first league win since the first weekend in September.
The three points not only put a smile on the player’s faces, but also lifted them off the bottom of the table and gave them hope of avoiding the drop.
With visitors Stocksfield also looking for the points to move themselves away from the relegation zone, it was a nail-biting afternoon and the Griffins took the lead after five minutes through Ryan Marshall.
But goals from Mark Smith, Paul Wintripp and Ryan Brymer put Murton 3-1 up at the break. Despite Murray’s late goal, Murton held on for the points.
Cramlington Town are now on the bottom as they went down 2-1 at home to Ponteland United.
Andrew Davidson fired United ahead from the penalty in the 65th minute but Cristen Priest equalised with a penalty at the other end ten minutes later.
Ponteland sub Dean Gate netted the winner in the 80th minute and second placed Alnwick Town Alnwick Town had. James Swordy and Wyn Fremlin on target in a 2-0 win at Wark.
David Dormand scored twice for Shankhouse as they won 3-1 at Carlisle City. Noel Hanlon added the other while Steven Rooke scored for the Cumbrians and Killingworth Sporting’s Anthony Burns scored with a header to secure a 1-0 success at Heaton Stannington.
Percy Main Amateurs Ashley Smyth was mobbed by his team-mates as he grabbed the extra time winner that took them into the final of the Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl, where they will meet Seaton Delaval Amateurs.
Dylan Williamson put Ashington ahead just before the break but Malcolm Morien equalised from the penalty spot before Smyth netted the winner in the 112th minute.
Tom Haigh, Daniel Beresford, Jonny Mann and David Atkinson scored for blyth Town as they beat Walker Central 4-1 in the Kicks Leisure George Dobbins League Cup and Mark Waite  was First Division Whitley Bay A’s goal hero as they pulled off a shock in the same competition, his fifth minute goal earning victory at Premier Division Harraby CC.
First Division leaders Hebburn Reyrolle had Channon North, James Wood, Chris Moore and a Sean Sweeney double on target in a 5-1 win at Newcastle University, whose scorer was Ben Burt..
Second-placed Heddon were held to a 1-1 draw at Gosforth Bohemian. Darren Campbell scored for Bohs and and Paul Thompson was the Heddon marksman.
Amble United’s Josh Hay crashed in another hat-trick as they trounced Newcastle East End 6-0.
Derek Atwell, Brett Robertson and Sean Taylor all got in on the act while Cullercoats also hit six against struggling Stobswood Welfare.
Craig Deighton got a double with Sean Smith, Graham Allen, Gareth Armstrong and Steven Hart all joining in while Kevin Bell got the consolation.
Omana and Michael Reay scored for bottom side Forest Hall but goals from Blakey, Jonathon Harland and Barry Donnelly gave Morpeth Sports Club a vital 3-2 win.
Peterlee Town had Graham Lacey and Peter Crawford celebrating goals as they won 2-1 at North Shields Athletic.  John Morden scored for Athletic.
Dave Hillory scored twice and Tony Abladey and Aris Tole Guerin got the others for South Shields united as they won 4-0 at Berwick United Ultras.
Wallsend Town’s Sean Reid netted two and Mickey Pooley also scored as they beat Northbank 3-2 to go into the Pin Point Recruitment Amateur Cup Final, where they will meet Swalwell.
Goals from Steven Graham, Greg Crilley and Sean Crudd gave Simonside SC a 3-0 win over Cramlington United that put them level on points with Wallsend Town at the top of Division Two while Tynemouth United’s 2-1 win over bottom side Wideopen & District put them fourth. Although Anthony Elliot shot Wideopen in front, Adam Pendlebury levelled and Steven Matthews hit the winner from the penalty spot.
Adam McVickers (2), Mick Bell, Tony King and Mark Fitzpatrick scored for Swalwell as they won 5-2 at Cullercoats Custom Planet. Daniel Vipond and Chris Baldwin replied.
Wallsend Boys Club youngster Rob Hanley celebrated hitting a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Seaton Burn. Chris Musgrave grabbed the other.
Gareth Pugh and Glen Johnstone scored for Willington Quay Saints as they beat Whitley Bay Town 2-0 and Red House farm ran out 4-0 winners over Hexham.

Northern Football Alliance Round Up 12/03/11

Ponteland United striker Harry Tulip took just ten minutes to fire his side ahead against Killingworth Sporting and went on to net a hat-trick in a 4-0 win.
The points move Ponteland three points clear of Alnwick Town at the top of the Premier Division on a day where the rain left pitches sodden and unplayable throughout the region.
Tulip added number two five minutes later and although the black and whites went on to create a number of chances, they didn’t extend their lead further until Richard Kent netted five minutes from time.
Tulip celebrated his treble in the final minute while Carlisle City sub Olly Driver scored a late double in a 4-1 victory at Wark.
Chris Major lobbed advancing keeper Ryan Potts to put City ahead in the twelfth minute and although Wark levelled five minutes later when Matthew Blackith tucked away, Craig Cherry tapped in a Jamie Heath cross at the back post to restore make it 2-1. Driver netted in the 80th and 90th minutes to seal the win for the third-placed side.
Seaton Delaval Amateurs went into the Final of the Northumberland FA Senior Benevolent Bowl after an emphatic 5-0 win at Walker Central.
Steven Anderson drilled in the opener from 25 yards and added a second from the penalty spot 10 minutes later.
Tom Wilson slotted in the third before the break and Grey thumped a swerving 30-yard drive into the top corner to make it 4-0 in the 58th minute and Michael Fenwick side-footed in number five in the 75th minute.
Hebburn Reyrolle made it fourteen games unbeaten as they recorded a 3-0 success over fourth-placed Cullercoats that maintained top spot in Division One. Ray Oshin, Channon North and Sean Sweeney got the goals.
Heddon’s Daniel Robinson struck four times in a 5-1 win over Berwick United Ultras as they moved into second place.
He grabbed a hat-trick as he netted in the 3rd, 20th and 33rd minutes before Ross Greenhill made it four in the 42nd minute. Chris Tait netted a consolation in the 62nd minute with Robinson completing the scoring in the 74th minute.
Peter Southern hit two and Kyle Reardon grabbed the other as Wallington won 3-0 at North Shields Athletic to move up to fifth.
Alan Kelly and Dan Brown scored for Forest Hall as they drew 2-2 in a relegation battle with Stobswood Welfare to claim their first point of the season, while Chris Glass and Kevin Bell were on target for the visitors who remain nine points clear.
Wallsend Town thumped Cramlington United 7-3 to go top of Division Two with Craig Burke hitting a hat-trick.
The game was switched to Town’s pitch in an effort to get the go-ahead with Mickey Pooley grabbing two himself and Sean Reid and Nikki Anderson getting the others while Neil Wilkin (2) and Jay Adams replied.
Goals from Martin Soulsby, Ross Fairly and Chris Davison gave Red House Farm a 3-2 win at Whitley Bay Town, whose scorers were Jed Findlay and Ben Harding.

Northern Football Alliance Round Up - Saturday 5th March 2011

Ponteland United sub Harry Tulip has a great knack of finding the net at vital moments – and he didn’t disappoint with a winner that put Pont top of the Premier Division on goal difference.

Tulip raced through and drilled confidently into the net.in the 77th minute of a thrilling seven goal encounter with basement side Murton.

Karl Garside shot Murton ahead from the penalty spot in the tenth minute and just sixty seconds later Gavin Nesbitt raced fired over the stranded keeper into the roof of the net from 20 yards for number two.

Andrew Davidson volleyed in to pull one back but Murton, who have impressed in recent weeks, saw Paul Wintrip tuck away a third.

Pont didn’t hit the panic button and Glen Ford thumped the woodwork before John Dunn’s back post header got them back in it. Five minutes before the break Richard Kent equalised from a Davidson cross.

Davidson winced as Murton keeper Aiden Vout saved his second half penalty but Tulip spared his blushes with the winner.

Alnwick Town’s unbeaten run is now up to 17 games but they lost a bit of ground as they were held to a 2-2 draw by third-placed Carlisle City.

Tom Vickers took just two minutes to open the scoring for Town but City’s Steven Rooke fired home just two minutes later. With both sides playing attractive football, Gary Patterson’s 24th minute goal put Alnwick back in front and Carl Murphy levelled after the break.

Reigning Champions Harraby almost opened the scoring against Shankhouse when Sergio Royo’s in-swinging corner from the right was headed off the line, but they were celebrating the first when Daniel Balmer cut in to strike a low drive from the corner of the box through the crowded area and into the far corner of the net on 38 minutes.

Harraby doubled their lead two minutes later when a delightful Royo pass sent Ryan Errington clear through the middle to lob over Martin Coleman into the net from 20 yards to give the home side a deserved two goal lead at the break.

Coleman made fantastic saves to keep out Errington, Balmer, Brett Swift and Archibald while Simon Tucker beat the keeper but the ball smashed back off the post.

Shankhouse’s Chris Rue flashed a volley across goal across goal and wide before a moment of madness in the Harraby defence gifted them a lifeline.

Michael Bell capitalised and shot gleefully into the empty net when a harmless looking long ball forward causing a mix - up and Shankhouse almost squared things up when the unmarked Anthony Moran powered three-yard downward header that Jordan English saved superbly.

They did equalise with five minutes to go as a corner was only cleared to the edge of the box where Daniel Chambers hit a stunning half volley into the top corner of the net.

Stocksfield’s Wayne Stewart shot them in front at Percy Main Amateurs but sub Michael Bowman went around the keeper and fired into the empty net to level and it also finished all-square at Gateshead Rutherford who had David Loughlin and Joseph Hindmarsh on target while Stephen Howes and Paul Hodge replied for Seaton Delaval Amateurs.

Kevin Grahamslaw and Craig Harley’s fired in after the break for Killingworth Sporting as they took the points at Ashington Colliers and Cramlington Town raced into a two-goal first half lead at Blyth Town with efforts from Dan Neary and Kieran Parsons.

But when they were reduced to ten men just after the break, Blyth took full advantage with Jonny Mann, Tom Haigh, Jeff Fuller and Neil Blades hitting the net.

Heaton Stannington were also reduced to ten men in the NFA Senior Benevolent Bowl as Walker Central won a physical affair 2-0 with goals from Grant Kershaw and Ryan Monaghan.

Goals from Ian Lee, Dean Porter, Darren Reay and Gav Hattrick put Whitley Bay A into the final of the Northumberland FA Minor Cup as the Seahorses cruised past fellow Division One side Forest Hall.

Tyneside Amateur League Division Two’s Blyth Isabella put the skids on an all-Alliance final with a surprise 1-0 victory at Gosforth Bohemian the other semi.

Hebburn Reyrolle thumped six past North Shields Athletic as they maintained top spot in Division One with Channon North grabbing two and Dan Gray, Ray Oshin, Peter Bryson and Dan Mattews the others while James Cowx and Dean Bolam were on the scoresheet for Athletic.

Josh Hay was the hat-trick hero for Amble United as they thumped Berwick United Ultras 5-0. Hay struck the opener in the 15th minute and Ross Gair made it two after the break. The wheels fell off for Berwick in the last ten minutes as Hay added two more and Stephen Gibbard the fifth.

Wallington’s Justin Milligan (2), Jordan Nellis and Mark Jewitt were on target in an emphatic 4-1 derby win at Morpeth Sports Club and Heddon’s Jordan Carling and Steven Sattersthwaite netted in a 2-1 win over Stobswood Welfare. David King got the consolation.

Cullercoats’ Dave Fairless, Stuart Wright and Graham Allen were their marksmen in a 3-0 win over South Shields United, while Kurran Dhugga scored for Newcastle University in a 1-1 draw with Peterlee Town

Newcastle Chemfica Independent’s scorers were Phil Bone, Steve McLaughlin, Alex Tooley and Gareth Davies as they won 4-2 at Swalwell to go top of Division Two.

Mark Fitzpatrick and David Fitzpatrick replied for Swalwell.

Goals from Ryan Arnott and Gary Hall were not enough for Wallsend Town as they went down 3-2 at home to Seaton Burn while Simonside SC were victorious a nine-goal thriller at home to Willington Quay Saints.
Steven Graham hit two with Sean Flood, Ben Cooper and Kyle Riley all getting in on the act while Glen Johnson and Mark Henderson both scored doubles for Willington in a tremendous game.
Tynemouth United’s Lee Garwood netted twice and Aaron Chambers added the other as they won 3-0 at Cullercoats CP while Wallsend Boys Club’s Gary Shaw and Chris Murphy scored in their 2-0 win over struggling Cramlington United. Boys Club also hit the woodwork six times.

Neil Tiffin netted from the penalty spot for Hexham against Whitley Bay Town but they were pegged back when Mattie Guthrie levelled after the break and Red House Farm thumped basement side Wideopen & District 5-1.
Northbank cruised into the semi-finals of the Cumberland Senior Cup with goals from Luke Barwick and Andy Rogerson (2) as they saw off Eden Thistle, who had caused a major shock in dumping out Harraby in the previous round.
